Hell, even then the hype and atmosphere for any individual game wasn't what it is today (no Gameday and endless television coverage on ESPNU and everything else throughout the week before and after). There were some big time recruits at that game and a lot more watching it on tv. Spurrier and the Gamecocks have spent the last 5 years coming in to Georgia and leaving with big time recruits. Davis this past year a good example. Now, on top of that, Richt gets his ass handed to him in the biggest game on "Separation Saturday." Put all the crap about being 0-10 in last 10 games versus ranked teams aside. The team that has become your biggest rival for the SEC East crown the past two years has now whipped you 3 years in a row and every recruit in your state is watching.
