Great news on Mitch...more competition to get everyone on the team much better.

Was Boeing Brown at the elite 11? Did he perform well?

No Boeing Brown did not get invited. He doesn't have the same capabilities that Mitch or Olsen do; Mitch and Olsen are elite qb's.

Brown is a prolly a great guy but he isn't near the qb as these too. We aren't actively recruiting him either. He would just be another guy for people on this board to freak out on wondering why our staff would offer someone with his ranking so early and take a commit from him this early. (To be honest, we aren't gonna offer him unless we just miss on all our qb recruits - he just isn't high on our board)

Brown was there, there were 60 participants this is just a regional event.

I agree that Mitch sounds like a good prospect. Still, you raise a good point with respect to G.A.'s apparent departure from recruiting more mobile QBs. Nothing at all wrong with debating our coaches' decisions

What is wrong with recruiting a Pro Style QB for this cycle? Are Nosovitch and McEvoy both Dual Threat QBs? It seems that would give Mangus and Spurrier the luxury of creating dynamic QB packages. Don't see anything wrong with that.

No No No, we must pick a direction and never shift from this, its too much for our fans to handle.

As long as you are debating them intelligently. Mitch is capable of doing the things in the run game that USC needs him to do and so is Olsen.

This is not a departure in philosophy. The philosophy is to sign the guy that you like the best and that you think can help you win games.

He was there and did not make my top five and was not at the level of many of the quarterbacks there. We will just leave it at that because he's a good kid and I wish him the best. Hopefully if a Division I program offers him a scholarship, he will do the smart thing and commit on the spot.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with it.

That makes too much sense, which means half the board will ignore it. biggrin

  • I would imagine available and interested skill set may play a role in signing a drop back QB. Meaning it would be better to have a 4 star drop back than a 3 star runner, assuming the star rating is flawless but you get what I am saying. 50/50 guy might not be available or interested so take the best available that you can get to commit.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

Not sure why folks are questioning GA on this, has he done anything to make you question his abilities? Agree sounds like a great prospect, sorry so many get caught up in trying t oread a coaches mind, might be simpler to ask him. Why don't you ring him or SOS up and ask. Ask Flo for the number he was tracking SOS' movements up and until the cancer benefit/draft, when the gps tracker fell out.

That sounds intelligent. I've always thought that passing skills should take precedence over mobility. If Mitch is a good passer then I'm sure that our coaches will figure out how to make it work.

Then why do you feel it necessary to question every single move our coaching staff makes, in the process antagonizing everyone on this board?

    1) I don't question every single move our coaching staff makes.

    2) if you don't like what I post don't read my posts.

Not so simple. Seems you start a pissing contest in just about every thread. Guess I'll just have to stop reading the entire board.
