You ask about guys that come back to get their degree. You are assuming he would not have to come back even if he played for the team next year.

Shouldn't it be to do your work well?

I was actually responding to several other people in the thread, not necessarily the OP. For instance, the comment, "Most will have not and will find themselves broke and without a college degree in a couple of years" and your own comment, "Yeah but seniors have college degrees so they have something to fall back on..."

As if a player couldn't possibly afford to pay for one more year of college when you are making $6-10k/week (for ~17 weeks) as a practice squad member, or $250k+ (IIRC) for the league minimum. Cam Newton & Maurice Jones-Drew are finishing up their educations in the offseason. My guess is that others could do the same. Or do you have to be a multi-millionaire star athlete to attend college these days?

Sure. Though there are plenty of people that could begin career early making good dollars that choose to complete their degree.

And there are plenty of athletes who turn down similar or greater amounts of money to return.

And some in both walks go the other way. I just hope he is looking at the right stuff with correct info and wide open eyes.

Joseph is one of the best corners in the league and was a 1st rounder. I disagree that Ace couldnt help his stock. He could gain 1000+ yards receiving and improve by a round or two. I think he'll be lucky to go in the 4th and could easily see him falling as far as the 7th.

Probably shocked and disappointed they have to play him at QB again. That guy is terrible.

It all depends on if Ace was on track for a degree that would add any value to his future. A good portion of near NFL quality players don't put the effort in obtaining degrees that will provide them squat when football is over. I have no idea if Ace was a good student on track for a degree. Leaving early while his stock is as high as it will get is the correct thing for his future. I hope he finds success for a team for a long future... The numbers do not matter as the trend is going to continue to grow for Jrs to leave early. Predicting that next year would be better is impossible to know. I would never advise someone to wait a year when we know he should or will make 500k or more. He easily can return to school if he has a good head on his shoulders when football dries up. He can't go to the NFL if he has a career ending injury in college.

We as a football program will be just fine at both positions that he is vacating. Someone will step up and we can use this as a further selling point to the quality of our coaching.
