I have to say, guys: you set me up to be a little disappointed. I was really hoping to hear a good zinger in there, but he sounded pretty subdued. I was hoping he was going to take a stick and really poke at that possum that thinks it is a bear in the upstate.

I guess part of the reason that I say this is b/c he seemed to be talking more about Florida (Moss) to me than Clemmons about the pot. The BFF comment was funny but I was hoping to see him open up a can on Abo during this set of GC meetings.

Of course, I think when it comes to them, he's minimizing them every time he refuses to engage off the field. He's letting what we're doing on the field prove that they should be the last team we fans obsess about. It may never happen, but certainly we don't have to have that chip on our shoulders we had when they bought their main selling point, a 31 year old (very tarnished) trophy. So maybe I shouldn't hold out hope for him to put them in their place anywhere but on the sidelines.

How did Abo do in his next game? I recall that is when he officially lost the D from his name on this board forever. Those were definitely direct shots at the CU head cheerleader.

You are right about the next game, I stand corrected. I forgot about the acc championship game and the two BCS berths that came out of that monumental contest. I do believe his jabs were aimed at the clown prince of coaching however.

Still got the whole summer and fall practice to jab away. Dont want to talk trash until you know who you got to back that up.

I think he definitely knows that he has the horses to back whatever he wants to say regarding them. I just think that there are two things at play here: 1) it would just be too easy given our recent history and abo opening himself up so wide for the KO; and 2) as he's said since he got here, they should not be worth our focus. I think he prefers to take jabs at programs that, being in the SEC, our program is actually mesasured against. And unlike FSU, who at the time was a legitimate annual National Championship contender, Clemson isn't worth the effort. So there is no Clemson equivalent to his Free Shoes University quip.

Plus, if you really take the good pokes, the ones saturated with truth, you run the risk of shedding light on the fact that we're in a similar situation now to where UF was against UGA when "Ray Goof" was there. SOS didn't worry about UGa (although, being UF's historically biggest SEC rival, I guess they were sort of worth his time particularly after he'd just made some statement on the field like being the first team to drop 50 plus on the doggies at Sanford) beating him. Once they got rid of Goff, they ran the chance of catching up to UF (of course that's about when SOS left for the NFL anyway). Once Clemson figures out that abo is a fraud of a head coach, they might have accumulated the talent (particularly if they accidentally build offensive & defensive lines) to pose a threat. Right now, I don't think he sees them as enough of a threat to give them too much thought. His refusal to hit back seems to bear out that he doesn't care too much what they say, IMO.

All that said, maybe tonight in Evans he just absolutely rips them a new one & spends his entire time at the podium obsessing about that team the way we fans often do. That'll show you what I really know, I guess.
