Story from Nebraska site about Jeffery/Dennard ...

  • With quotes from Dennard. Figured most of you would find this interesting. How about keep the comments classy, please.

Alfonzo Dennard ended his career with an ejection

See what senior cornerback Alfonzo Dennard said about his ejection and his day against South Carolinas Alshon Jeffery.

  • Dennard threw 2 punches and was mugging AJ all game and should've been flagged multiple times. No one mentions AJ would've had another gain on a throw Shaw missed in the 1st quarter. To basically eject AJ for pulling that guy's facemask was poor judgment by the refs.

  • Denard was physical from the start. Two NFLers going at it. Jeffrey won on the field and on the scoreboard.

  • I don't have a problem with the article or his comments. Very fair IMO

  • I'd say the article is ok, but I haven't seen the footage of alshon grabbing this thug #15 or pulling his facemask. A push? Yes. That's not worthy of an ejection. Hell, given #15's behavior, I don't think alshon should have gotten a PF. Ref made a bad call. I may sing a different tune once I'm able to watch the replay (couldn't see anything in the stadium), but from what I saw on espn news, alshon had no business getting the boot.

  • There was no doubt who the thug was in this situation. Dennard threw two haymakers and was obviously the one completely out of control. I'm sure he is not used to playing against a receiver that he can't outmuscle, not to mention that he gave up 2 huge plays.

Dennard was right when he said that he usually had his hands on Alshon and when he didn't have his hands all over Alshon, Alshon burned him. The first half highlights repeatedly showed Dennard going over the line of mere physical play. He was grabbing jersey, holding, amongst other things.

Maybe the refs felt like they had to toss both guys, but go back and watch the replay, the exchange between the two players was completely unequitable and a push can not be compared with two closed-fist punches.

I agree you want, all highlights show him mugging alshon all game. If a push deserves an ejection then sure. I can tell you Alshon didn't deserve it at all. If cornerbacks got away with this all year I see why his numbers where down. Not to mention shaw never trusted the jump ball in one on
