Superlatives: Auburn

Throughout every football game, there are turning point plays, big hits, unsung heroes, and laughable moments. Like usual, there were plenty of them in South Carolina’s 35-27 loss to Auburn.

  • it wasn't CC that tried to pick the ball up it was antonio allen! CC casued the fumble!

    Headnlips

  • Yeah, I keep seeing that too. C.C. eventually picked it up as it rolled down the sideline, but he was still on the ground when Allen got there first and tried to run with it.

    Hippiegamecock

  • Yep, it was Antonia that should have just fallen on the ball.

  • Wanted to add that while Gilmore may have had nine tackles, he was one that stood out to me that also didn't have his best defensive game. I just don't think the team was able to prepare like it should have this week due to the news of KM. But even with that, I think a jeer should go to Ellis Johnson. I was not impressed with his defensive plan this week.

  • no jeer for CC please...you got that one wrong

Make sure that they remember, forever, the night they played the Titans!!!

  • The turning point in the game was when AA didn't pick up the fumble and knocked it out of bouinds. We go up 2 scores there and the game is over!!!

  • I agree on the Ellis Johnson Jeer! I think he is a good DC BUT, think about Alabama last year Cutting us and how bad our run D has been since he has been here. It was good before yesterday but it was AWFUL yesterday!!!! We have had some good games for sure on D in the last 3 years but the bad ones really stand out! Yesterday is one of those!

    Headnlips

  • I'll take Ellis Johnson as DC every day and twice on Sunday. The outstanding efforts of his defenses far outnumber the bad days. Yesterday wasn't the best, but the crtiticisms belong on both sides of the ball.

  • Plus, you got to give Maddox a superlative for the highlight hurdle!!!

  • I just hope they play CC instead of Cully. I think the other teams know they can get under Cully's skin and get him to cause flags. It just seems CC is a better more natural DB. I think Cully is the last link to the old Carolina once he's gone hopefully we get players like Lattimore they have talent and a good attitude. I would rather have a 3 star prospect who plays hard than a 5star who plays inconsistent and above the team. For Cully to have the flag during the Furman game and another one the next game he just doesn't get it.

  • Not sure that you could be more wrong about your "Hit of the day".

First Maddox landed right ON TOP of number 94 that tackled him... there was no spiking involved.

Second, did you not see Lattimore's block on the next to last SC play?

I apologize. It was Antonio Allen. I have updated the story. I just had a chance to watch the replay after traveling back today. Thanks.

JC already has someone tossing a football on the sidelines. Gotta tighten up!

  • Now that a couple of days have past, feel I can be objective. I have never written any kind of posting on any site regarding any subject; no this won't be Jerry McGuire's mission statement. Commenting on the Three Jeers section and #17; why is this player not disciplined for his continued/repititious behavior/penalties. He reminds me of the old Miami teams; constantly jawing, pushing and overall showing a lack of discipline. Forget the hotel thing, he was continually stirring it up w/ Georgia. In addition to the penalty mentioned in JW's piece, at the 6:50 mark in the 4th quarter he took a haymaker swing at the opposition, had an official seen it, he would/should have been tossed. I've been attending games for 40 years; I am objective enough to know that "the times have changed" and that trash talking has become an art, but the one thing that has been constant through the years is that our players, win or lose, showed some discipline and class while competing. Culliver could use a lesson in that history and maybe even a course in sportsmanship. I hope a teammate or staff member can reach him; he has cost us once, we have at shot at competing for the division title, if we handle all the teams we should. I would truly hate to see a repeat performance of this player's antics in Gainesville when much more could be on the line.
