Tanner

  • Ray Tanner is my sentimental choice for the AD position but I am not privy to the resumes for other candidates who might be better.
Although that is hard to believe remember there is the possibility that politics may enter the picture.

  • Are you saying other candidates may be better or other candidates resumes may be better? Sure other candidates may have better resumes but that does not mean that they would be better. Pastides has worked closely with Tanner and should know whether or not he is the man for the job.

He may be the sentimental choice but he's as qualified as anyone. We don't need some lawyer or business hotshot. We need someone with credibility, respect and an ability to lead and motivate. That's Tanner. ADs who know the numbers stuff are a dime a dozen.

Until you actually interview someone you do not know. Someone may come in and blow the committee away.
Personally I think Tanner is the best for the job. The financial end bothers me but that could be solved with an assistant who does have a handle on such matters
The only trepidation I have is the committee. They or some of them may have other candidates in mind that would satisfy any agenda they may have or even(hard to believe)harbor a grudge or jealousy against Tanner. I am not a fan of committees making decisions but would rather Pastides conduct interviews while asking for advice.
Pastides should have the final say in recommending to the Board but a strong committee push toward someone else could make it tough for him
