Tashawn Bower to Auburn....

  • I see what you did right there...

  • He would have been a stud under Lawing. He will have to do it on his own if he wants to be great there. I cannot think of a very good pass rusher they have had in a long time. Cheap shot was who he was when he got there.

His loss. I like the DE's we have anyways. Washington and Covington are going to be very good. English is the next All-American.

Ally will beat the crap out of Uga.

  • As much time as GA spends in NJ and Pa. I hope he starts hitting on some of his higher ranked prospects. Maybe this year is the year.

Nick fairley? May be a cheap short artist but he was a dlineman that went top 5 and rushed the passer

You say somethings just for the reaction sometimes, don't you?

I mean he landed our QB of choice and a 4 star MLB last cycle
In 2011 Byrd (4 star), his choice of QB, and Royster (4 star)

So he's landed his last two QB's and 3 4 star players in the last two years. How many IYO should he be landing, or were you just trying to land a quick criticism for some reason.

he went 13th, not top 5.

  • Being off the road for a while likely had some impact during this cycle as well.

Seems to me like we've gotten some good prospects out of the Northeast in recent years. It's never going to be our primary recruiting ground -- just like OSU isn't going to pull 5 - 6 guys out of the Carolinas every year. But we've been in on some good prospects and signed our fair share. Don't see much to complain about, really.

I think he was saying that fairly was already good when got to Auburn, and didnt develop much. In other words, he was who he was when he got there. So I think that guy's point is that if you need to be developed a la Devin Taylor, it aint happening at Auburn.

In all fairness, Fairley had a great final season. Not sure I can buy the argument that he didn't develop. Flash in the pan maybe (remains to be seen) but it's not like he had a great rookie year and then never improved. Very similar to Melvin Ingram career if you ask me and we are quick to laud Lawing (and justifiably so) for Melvin's development.

But Fairly was a Juco transfer if you recall. Not saying he didnt get better while at Auburn, but its rare a Juco come in an starts right away. Lawing took a former MLB and turned him into a first round draft pick. Fairly was DT all the way and as the other poster stated, was who he was when he got there. To compare Melvin to Fairly is simply not fair, and is more like comparing an apple to a Ferrari. In other words, it makes no sense to do so.

  • They both had one great year. And I clear stated Lawing did a noteable job w/ MI.

My point is that it seems dumb to be arguing over the develpment of 1st round draft picks. They obviously developed. It's not like the would have been drafted in the 1st round had they just hung out at home for 3yrs after leaving hs and waiting to be draft eligible.

Ok fair enough, but lets not pretend that all first round draft picks took the same route. You said they both had very similar careers. Im sorry but I totally disagree with that comment. One was a DT from day one, the other had injury issues and changed positions a few times. I just think comparing those two is a bad idea. Not many similarities at all other than both had good years in their last year in college football and both were first rounders. If you think Auburn is good and developing DLineman please show me the evidence. I think we ARE great at developing linemen, and I think you know the evidence there.
