Tennessee Roll Call, who's going

  • Looks like it will be a great fall weekend in Knoxville with highs in the upper 50's and low's in the low 30's.

I will be heading up early Friday morning and staying at the Holiday Inn on Cedar Bluff. No decision just yet on dinner for tomorrow night, either Calhoun's or Ye Ole.

Who all is going and where you staying?

I will be there - I live in Knoxville and work downtown. I have a whole contingent arriving Friday from SC for the game.

I actually have 1 extra ticket in a box in the lower level available if anyone is interested. If so, send me a PM.

WG - I suggest you go with Chez Liberty on Kingston Pike for dinner, rather than Calhouns or Ye Ole. If you are going to Ye Ole, you would be getting steak and paying a good deal for it - and Chez Liberty (or Ruth's Chris) is much better. If you want something different (and fantastic), try Bistro by the Tracks off of Northshore (off the Papermill exit in West Knoxville).

The trash talk here at my firm is ramping up - even with the low expectations. The UT fans feel that SC is beatable. I hope the Gamecocks silence the critics/skeptics Saturday night!

Interesting advice. Thanks. We have a big group of seven going and were planning an early dinner (6ish).

What type of food is Chez Liberty? Is it a steak house?

As much as I have traveled, I have never been to Calhoun's so we were considering giving it a try.

We always end up parking at the church on top of the hill although the past two years we end up at the bottom of the hill which is actually a nice place we just do not get good satellite strength.

Chez Liberty is a "nicer" restaurant. Has a very good steak, but also other good fare. I've attached links to its website and the menu. Bistro by the Tracks is also very good. Links to their website and menu are also attached.

As much as Calhoun's is a popular destination, the food is below average.

Enjoy Knoxville - and go to Market Square downtown if you get time. They've done great work on that area and there is a ton of stuff to eat/buy/see down there.

Agreed. The Chicken and Waffles at Cafe 4 is great. So, too, is the Lobster Maccaroni.

Heading out in the morning and staying until Monday morning. Staying in a cabin in Sevierville.

Not sure where I will park. We come up 441 and park on the other side of the bridge and walk across. Or cross the bridge and park in the church parking lot.

    GO COCKS!

Just so you know, the bridge next to the stadium (Henley Street) is closed. They are tearing it down and replacing it. If you park across the river and plan on walking across the Henley Street bridge - that won't work. You would have to walk all the way down to Gay Street and cross there (down past the now-closed hospital). Just a heads up.

  • I think that Calhouns has a Gamecock event on Friday, I will not be there...going to a Halloween party near the RV parking area under the bridges.. Have fun, I think you will see a bunch of Gamecock fans there this year! Go Cocks! I'll be there with 6 others.

  • Will be there, staying in a lake house on Lake Douglas in Dandridge with 5 other Gamecock fans.

Will be getting down toward the stadium probably mid morning on Saturday.

Since we will be showing up early Saturday and tailgating, what would be some good spots near the stadium that are first come first serve?

2 years ago we met a old UT Letterman that wasn't going to the game and let us use his parking pass in Neyland Parking Garage which was beyond convenient.
