Justin, you have had some brilliant stuff before, but this, without a doubt is in your top three. Fantastic job, and fantastic questions. Interesting that his mother said he could have played basketball in college, and she would know, as she was a very good basketball player herself.
I had heard that Connor was the player in every sport in high school that the coach would go to at the end of close games to close them out. She just confirmed that. She seems very proud of Connor, and with good reason. Even if he was not the athlete that he is, just the kindness and work ethic he shows is a testament to great parents. What a young man.
I remember reading a scouting report on Connor, I think it was from ESPN. It said something like "I am beginning to think all of us have underestimated this guy, he seems to have the 'it' factor."
I would say that was a good analysis.

Dawn and her husband are too humble to say this, but there is NO DOUBT Connor will succeed after the way he was raised. All season people talked about how much adversity the team was overcoming...myself included...now I see Connor Shaw was one of the biggest catalysts behind that. Speaking with Dawn you can just tell how proud she is of her children, and for good reason! There are no limits to where Connor Shaw can take South Carolina.

As a follow up to his success, I understand he received 14% of the vote by write-in ballots in recent student body president elections at Carolina!! Not that he was even running for it. Bottom line is I have been told that he is really respected by the students who know him at Carolina.

Not physically gifted? How many qb's with his accuracy and arm also run a 4.5? only physical issues there are to pick at is his size, and that is not a big concern. He's as physically gifted as we have had since Syvelle Newton.

Great article, Justin. If we weren't already feeling good about where our program is headed, I think this gives us hope that ANY goals are realisitic.
I found it interesting where she spoke about how Connor would always find a way to get it done and lead his team to victory; kind of puts abo's comments after this year's beat down in perspective, where he couldn't believe that his team got beat by the QB. probably not the first (or last) coach to say that about Connor.....keep it up, kid!

I was one of those that did not think Connor could get us there. Not throwing to Alshon enough, etc. After seeing Alshon report at the NFL Combine at least 15 pounds lighter, I see the problem was probably more Alshon than our QB play. Connor, press on.
