Thunder vs Heat

  • Before series I would guess Heat in 6. After that game, Thunder are clearly better and will win in 6. Just goes to show its still a team game and superstars can't win by themselves. Heat are missing that hard nosed defensive player/shot blocker. Need an Artest type guy in his prime...

  • The Heat are in trouble IMO. James Harden only had 5 points, and the Thunder still won comfortably by 11, and that includes Battier and Chalmers shooting out of their minds a combined 6/10 from 3. Those 2 aren't going to give you that every night, and Harden will go off for a game or 2 in this series, and Sefolosha (sp?) looks like he can be pesky enough to at least bother LBJ. If only Sefolosha could make a break away dunk or 2....

  • Like I said, its going to be very difficult for the Heat. For them to win, both James AND Wade have to score 30. In 4 out of the first 6 games, that's not happening.

  • If the Heat lose this title, Spoelstra and Wade are gone. I think it will head back to Miami with the series tied at 1-1.

So then James will be in a Cleveland situation again? (except Miami is a way better place to live)

That is one hell of a home court advantage in OKC. It took OKC two games to figure out the Spurs. It took one half for them to get on track against the heat.

Lebron played very well, and that is what is scary to the Heat, I would imagine. Kevin Durant is a stone cold killer in the 4th quarter. Westbrook is freakishly quick and athletic, I mean, WOW.

OKC has defenders that match up very well with the Heat. Sefalosha did pretty good against Lebron, nobody can stop him, and Harden did excellent against Wade.

I was just in awe of seeing the two best players landing blow after blow throughout the game. This is a great series. I do not think the Heat have much chance of winning in OKC, though.

I would argue that between Lebron and Wade, they have 2 of the top 5 defenders in the game. Defense is not their problem in this series. It is trying to score with OKC.

Lebron and Wade both get crazy amounts of blocks.

They will trade Wade and get basically whatever they want for him. They need to fire Spoelstra regardless of what happens in this series and hire Stan van Gundy or have Riley return to the bench.

Whatever they want for Wade? Like who? Not another superstar. He's a shell of his former self with health concerns.

Philly is looking to dump Igudala because they don't want to pay him. They could deal him to Chicago for Noah and Brewer. Or even deal him to the Bobcats for their entire roster.

So this Miami team minus Wade and adding Iggy or Noah is going to be better?

They would get more than just a one for one swap, but yes I think have Igudala instead of Wade would make them better.

I think Game 2 could very well decide the series. I think the Thunder will more than likely win at least 1 game in the three game Miami homestand. Too much clutch scoring to be swept on the road and Miami's home court advantage is nothing to write home about.

Seems to me that Miami needs Game 2 to allow themselves margin for error at home.

If the Thunder walk out of game 5 with a 3-2 lead then this series is all but over because the Thunder don't seem prone to choking.

Miami needs to hope that starting Bosh can get Wade going. It very well could because Bosh is a very good player and can create spacing on the floor for Wade to attack the rim (if he's still got the legs to do it). If Wade continues to play like he did last night then this series could end sooner than everyone originally thought.

  • I'm not and NBA fan. I haven't watched 2 minutes of NBA basketball in 5 years I bet.
But I did watch a good bit last night including the entire 4th quarter. That was pretty good basketball right there. Durant is incredible. Everything he does is effortless. No wasted motion or effort.
I like that OKC team and I hope they take it.

  • Don't read too much into game one. Important to remember that OKC had almost a week off so naturally they had more energy. Both teams will make adjustments and each game will be independent of the others in this series.

OKC may very well win the series, but one game doesn't make them clearly the better team. OKC played a near perfect game shooting wise and Miami was atrocious on Defense/transition. I suspect both of these will change. If Wade can actually become a factor in the first half again that will huge as well.

If Miami can win Thursday they are in great shape. Even if they go down 2-0 this thing isn't over and could easily still go 7 games.

I thought the Thunder played their B-game last night until the 2nd half. They shook off their first Finals nerves, turned up the intensity on D, started playin their game, & took it to the Heat like I thought they would.

The Heat's transition D has been atrocious all Playoffs, which is why they are a horrible matchup for the Thunder. The Celtics were able to run on the Heat with basically just Rondo. What did you think would happen with OKC? Your right it's just one game, but I don't se much changing IMO. The Thunder have the best player in the game & are just a better team.

I like your optimism. However, it always looks like the team that is playing the team your rooting for is shooting lights out. I thought the Thunder shot very poorly until the 2nd half. I thought the Heat shot well. Battier and co: you will not get a better game out of him. You can hope for a good game out of Mike Miller, but the fact is, The Thunders Bench and role players are better. That is the price the Heat knew they had to pay for getting those three.

I think Durant has pulled even with Lebron for the best player in the league, and that is no slight on Lebron. KD is fantastic. He is a killer in the 4th qtr.

Lebron played very well last night, btw, he is unstoppable in a lot of situations.
