Thunder vs Heat

  • Awesome game.

Tied up heading back to South Beach. This will be a 6-7 game series. Anyone saying otherwise is a fool

  • Typical swallowed whistle for Lebron. The sh1tty goaltending call was pretty big.

  • Such bs how that wasn't a foul. If it would have been reversed situation the crybabies would have been talking about it for the next 3 days.

Durant could easily have fouled out with the charge/Battier blocking call. Refs definitely gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Agreed on the Durant / Battier foul. Was 50 / 50 and refs are almost always going to give the star the benefit of the doubt on that play, especially when a charge would mean said star fouling out.

Even if the calls even out over the course of the game (which they tend to do), it's a shame that Lebron managed to commit two fouls on the most important possession of the game and got called for neither. There's always a fair amount of BS calls in any basketball game but with the way the refs had called this game I thought not calling the foul on KD was egregious.

Regardless, the Heat outplayed the Thunder tonight. Game 3 just got a lot more interesting.

Battier was still sliding under him. As he was the first time they called a charge

  • after last night i have decided that OKC will win this. I dont think they could play much worse in the first half, and if that's the worst their best is going to be a nightmare for miami.

    Say what?

Bird had an outstanding cast around him. As did magic. There were vastly better teams in that era. That is just wrong-- definitively wrong --not just well everyone has an opinion wrong.

The Celtics were 42-40 in 1989 when Bird was hurt all year and only played in 6 games.

  • Heat up 2-1.

I told you guys this wouldn't be a coronation for the Thunder. If the Thunder win this its in 7 games, Miami may win in 6.

Both of these teams are way too good for it to have gone 5.

  • I thought it was ironic the team leading the league in FT % was schooled at the line in this game.

    Pressure back on OKC

    I think they respond.

If so, Game 5 will likely be the pivitol game in the series...

  • Lebron and Wade smell blood and the Heat have an All-Star in the post which is the difference for them. Heat definitely win next game to go up 3-1.

Don't like the way they play. Haven't liked either player since they were in the NBA. Kind of like how we don't like Clempson.

and that doesn't mean I don't think they are good/talented. They are great but that doesn't mean I have to pull for them. Another reason is because of the bandwagon fans MIA picked up when all of this big 3 (really 2) started.

I understand. I feel like that's the way it goes, you either love Lebron or hate him. It seems like he has finally made the leap and realizes that you have to work on refining your game each offseason. I have been waiting to see him show improvement for years.

  • I'm still sticking with Thunder in 6 (although that's looking awfully tenuous right now).

On another note, the 2nd most important player on the floor these days for the Heat is Shane Battier. He is really a unique player ... this is a really, really interesting article that came out about him a few years ago when he played with the Rockets ...

    The No-Stats All-Star - NYTimes.com

The N.B.A. (learning from baseball) is discovering the power of new statistics and weird analytics. By these measures, the unsung and undervalued Shane Battier is a true all-star.

Bc the amount of d shucking that already exist with LBJ. People already try to argue he's the best player ever. He may win a title after running to Wade and Bosh, and then everyone is going to say that *THAT* solidified it. That him winning a title after running to join another all-time great proves his worth.

Don't forget about game 2 in miami when rondo got slapped in the face with no call. C's may have won that game.

Not that many people say he is the best ever. Potential to be maybe, but even that is cooling. He is certainly top 20 as things stand today, but even I am not saying he's the best ever.

Playing with other great players isn't a cop out, its a necessary step to winning titles. Jordan, Magic, Bird, and most of the other greats had good talent to play with. It isn't Lebron's fault he was drafted by Cleveland and not LA, Boston, or Chicago.

Who would you label as 'great' that played with Dirk last year? Kidd? I'd agree that Kidd used to be great, but not his current self and def not a top 5 player like Wade is. Jordan, Magic and Bird - who did they run to? Chicago was a joke pre-Jordan. Jordan made them the Bulls you know today. And it's not just about the teaming up, it's the teaming up and then spouting off that your newly formed boy band is going to be the greatest ever. Should all players jump ship and team up? Nash and Dirk should team up and run to Kobe, Dwight Howard and Durant should team up and run to Rose, Kevin Love, Hibbert and Iguodala should run to Joe Johnson. If these guys want any hope - run to each other in the biggest markets. It'd be great if the All-Star teams were made up of about 5-7 teams. The playoffs would be much more entertaining, right.

I don't recall who said it, but one of the pundits recently said LBJ is the best player we've ever seen.

I think you're underestimating how great MJ's teams were. Lebron is far from the GOAT at this moment, but he can be in the conversation in time if he keeps improving his game. In Cleveland, his teams were absolutely terrible. The quick fix was going to Miami because not only was a great team already assembled, but also because no one wants to go live in Cleveland, even if you pay them millions and millions of dollars, and the ownership/upper managment is a joke. MJ didn't have to "run" anywhere because he had competent owners and Pippen as his sidekick, who was the greatest defender of his era and maybe ever.

  • Sefalosha reminds me a little of Pippen on defense. He is not as good, obviously, but he is still very, very good on D.

As far as Lebron, you cannot blame him for going to Miami. I don't really like the guy either, but Cleveland was showing little interest in putting up the money to get even another great defender, much less some other offensive guys.

Lebron is unstoppable. He is the best combination of size, strength, and speed I have ever seen. He is a mix between Dominique wilkins, Karl Malone, and Charles Barkley. It is amazing to watch him sometimes. Him and Wade have got to be in the top five as far as best two players to play together on same team, ever. That is a formidable pair.

I thought that OKC would not have as much trouble with the Heat as they are having. Battier has started channeling his inner Larry Bird all of the sudden, and Mike Miller is putting in quality minutes as well. It is going to be interesting. Durant has gotten a couple of iffy fouls called against him, and that has affected the games in big ways. They suddenly are applying "the Jordan rules" to Lebron and Wade.

There are abberations. 79 (?) Sonics, 04 Pistons, 11 Dallas, Portland the year they won it.

Bulls, 80s Pistons, All the Celtics and Lakers dynasties. All have been collections of stars, whether free agents or by trade.

I'm not why you are so mad about LBJ. It really is no different than Garnett and Allen demanding a trade to Boston. You read way too much into the celebration that was primarily for Miami season ticket holders. Lebron said if they work hard and got lucky he thought they could win multiple titles. He did not ask everyone to bow down to him for the next ten years like some seems to think.
