Time For Mike Minor to Head Back to the Minors

  • He is not ready for big time baseball and has already given up the most Home Runs in the national league. He needs to be sent back to Gwinnett because he doesn't even give the team a chance when he starts.

  • I didn't think it could get any worse than his other outings. He sucks right now. I would rather give Medlen, Hernandez, or Teheran a shot.

  • Anyone know JJ's status? Has he improved during his time at Gwinett? What is it going to take to bring up Julio Tehran? Minor holds responsibility for 40% of the teams losses this year. He was a stud last year...this year...not so much.

  • Minor had a perfect opportunity last week to beat a Reds team coming off of a rain delay the night before plus travel, and he blew it. Not sure about minors just yet, but the dude needs to step his game up.

    What is the deal with Braves ownership? Aren't we selling the team after this year or something? If so, what are the chances Mark Cuban buys us and pays Josh Hamilton a bagillion dollars to play in ATL?

  • Haven't heard anything about Liberty selling the Braves yet but I'd love to see Cuban own the braves. The main issue is still the idiotic TV deal that has 20+ years left. I doubt Hamilton leaves the Rangers but I'd be ecstatic. Minor needs to be sent down. He's killing the Braves right now, but I still believe the Braves need to get a lefty who can start and be solid.

    JJ is doing awful right now, and Tehran isnt looking anything like the pitcher he was last year. Just demote minor and give medlin a shot if you ask me.

    yea that tv contract will absolutely destroy the braves chances on signing any free agent or resigning any of their own players. I hope they find a way to get out of that.

  • I like Minor but I don't think he has good enough stuff to be a top of the line starter. Once he gains some confidence, he will be a good #3 or #4 guy in the bigs. His two problems are lack of confidence in an out pitch and lack of command with his fastball. He appears scared to throw the cutter or slider to righties unless he's nibbling at the back door. His fastball is 89-90 so when he locates it, it ain't half bad. Unfortunately, when he acts scared to throw his other pitches, he lives with the fastball and guys wait on the mistake up in the zone. Did you notice that after the 3 dong inning, he came back and got them three up three down twice in a row? Personally, I think his breaking stuff is much better than he gives himself credit for. Almost all the damage has been done against his fastball.

    I agree that Teheran needs another chance. That kid is filthy. Hopefully Vizcaino will be able to bounce back next year as well because he is/was a badass. If it's true that they brass wants to preserve Medlen's arm, then i hope after the break, he gets a spot in the rotation. I love watching him pitch. Nothing is straight.

    He gave up 6ER in 4.1 innings yesterday.

  • Keith law said last night he is a totally different pitcher now than the spring and last year. His velo is down about 4 MPH with no command.

    Yep. Remember Minor has seen a velo spike since coming out of Vandy. If he was throwing 93+ then he probably doesn't make it to the Braves. He might need some time but he should figure it out.
