Todd McShay

  • Him and Mel were talking about best WR's coming out and then talked about biggest risk of those choices

McShay and Kiper both said ALSHON was the biggest risk because of separation ability and weight.

Mel was fair and said the QB situation affected his production.

MCSHAY said he runs the risk of Mike Williams and could eat himself out of the League!!

Who does this guy think he is?

A guy who makes several hundred thousand dollars a year to talk about draft prospects?

    Spurrier...I appreciate him plenty

  • Fair or not that's the perception of Alshon. He needs to prove them wrong.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think its true at all, but his underwhelming numbers this year combined with rumors doesn't look good. I have every faith that he's going to be a dominant player at the next level - but he's going to have to earn that with people who don't watch USC every week.

  • I think he would make a nasty tight end!

Nice to see you're taking in national television media under your umbrella of protection, not just local columnists.

  • I do not understand the worries that he will not have the work ethic, or stay in shape. He was someone who never gave the coaching staff the smallest problem. A great team guy, and showed he can get open and make the huge play. A fine young man who is very unselfish. Pardon my french, but McShay can go eat a steaming cow pattie

I love Alshon but he has never been a workout warrior. I'm hoping that has changed now.

Why would that douche bag start defending his own now? He never has before.

He's the same guy that kept saying last year that Cam Newton should not be taken early and that he wasn't going to be a good NFL QB. McShay is an pompous ass who thinks he knows more than NFL scouts.

Did he really say that about Cam. I'm going to YouTube some videos of McShay making bad predictions and see what I find.

  • I don't know if Mcshay said that about Cam, but I know Mayock did. I had my doubts about Cam as well. Nobody bats a 1000, even the professionals.

  • Mcshay said Jimmy Clausen was gonna be a stud.......lol.....just sayin

I agree. You could look at Alshon last year and clearly see he was not in the best of shape.

  • Mark my words. Jeffery will be the best WR from this class. If he falls in the first round that just means he will be on a better team. I hate the Pats but Tom Brady is pretty good.

    james d2

  • Althouh Kiper and Mcshay are the go to guys on scouting for the draft you can't go with what they say all the time.I mean years ago Kiper said Ryan Leaf was locked to being a great player and had him above Manning and he also picked Jamarcus Russell to be great and we see that these 2 were the biggest draft bust of all time.

    cocks5_east_champs

  • McShay and Kiper have too much time before the draft, they over think, over re attack, and over analyze every scrap of info that leaks out. They have to say controversial things to stay relevant. The fact is ALSHON is a beast and has ton of natural God given talent. He is an ultra talented elite WR, he will excel in the NFL and it won't matter one bit if he runs a 4.5, 4.6 or even 4.7 in some damn combine. They get way to caught up in that kind of crap. Remember Troy Williamson , deep down we all knew he wasn't first round talent , but we all supported him and hoped we were wrong. Now we all know Alshon is 1st round material and will be an All-pro, it doesn't matter to us what the latest info to leak out is, we have seen enough. USC fans know wide receivers, we have seen enough great wide receivers (Sharpe, Brooks, Bethea, Rice,... etc) play for the Gamecocks to know one when we see one . Alshon is one. Go ahead and pass on him, it will bite you in the rear and may cost some GM his job.

  • The ESPN magazine photo along with low numbers dropped his stock, he's the same weight he was in 2010 and from all credible reports is busting his butt down in FLA. I think he will pop some eyes at the combine. He will never be a 4.3 guy but if he sculpts his body and really focuses on his speed he can probably be a 4.6 guy. I don't think he'll be as slow as they were saying. I think based just on his numbers and the condition of the O he should have stayed and blown up(performance not weight) again next year

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

    suffoletta

  • I'm not really expecting big things from him in the combine. In fact, I think its going to be pretty underwhelming. I think he's going to fall into the second round, struggle to get playing time, and then explode during the 2nd half of his rookie season. He's going to be a very good to great WR in the NFL for many years to come.

    Tempest

  • Everyone is underestimating him now. But I agree with a poster above that he will be the best WR in this class. He is nothing like Mike Williams.

    Thomas Sumter

  • Mcshay still tries to force a deeper voice from himself like he hasn't gone through puberty yet. Then again maybe he hasn't.
