    I've always liked Quinshad. He always performs when I watch him. There were very few times today where the DB was able to cover him. Whoever ends up getting him is getting a major steal out of this state.

    He had an offer...didn't commit. Now we are full at that position. What do you want the staff to do...back out on someone who did commit?

    The question is will he be better then the 3 studs we already have committed in the next few years? who knows...

    But one thing I have learned over the last few years - is that for USC to remain at the current level- its more important to keep building the lines of scrimage, rather then taking a 4th WR.

The kid had offers flowing in and would commit now, he just didn't know what the world looked like then....Yes, Gaffney is small, but it is also the SCHSL Title winningest program in the state and the kid was focused on winning the next title(which they fell a little short after being #2 in the country in Rivals), so now that he is focused on his post season afterlife why in the hell are we not there? So I will be pissed if Grobe or Dumbo come in and take a star from GHS! Why should I be at our coaching staff.....spending hours in Dillon and Lexington instead on lesser kids.

    He isn't better than Shaq. I take offense someone calling Roland a "lesser kid". That is insulting and, regardless of who is the better player, Shaq Roland is not a lesser kid. He is a helluva kid. Ask anyone that's been around him for any length of time. Bama and Florida sure didn't think those were "lesser kids".

    Those lesser kids said yes when he said I don't know. In today's recruiting world, a kid
    that waits may lose his spot.

    I feel sorry for he kid if he wants to come
    now. It is unfortunate, but our staff can't run off a commitment to make room for him. That wouldn't be right.

  • Well you might want to re-read my post. There is no lesser of "kid/person" than Shaq( I know of him personally since his childhood, this is not a personal attack on his character)! The "kid" I was referring to is Quinshad. I sure hate Lex finally fell allowing a million ppg to everyone in the state and we didn't get to see Shaq vs. Quinshad in a Gaffney vs. Lexington slaughter. I really hate Gaffney didn't get to get another title in the process; I know that we would have beaten Lex badly, except we lost to Byrnes and Lex fell in round 2....point allowing problem bit them against Blythwood...... Quinshad is bigger, faster, and more physical than Shaq. Shaq is a better all around player as far as playing alternate positions. Quinshad is a better WR hands down, just wait till Sat when Copeland and him put on a clinic. Now why SOS Jr. is not losing another kid to get him is beyond me....but it is a terrible loss for those of us who wear Garnet and I will be sick when I see an ACC tab on his chest...orange or black.
    And by the way, o'spop, before you want to put me down, go to school and learn a factoid or two and please read the post you are responding to!

Well if you offer 6 kids and have room for 4 and get 1 five star, 1 four star, and 2 three stars and then at a later date(when the kid said he would commit)a 5 star kid(Quinshad) gets upset because you don't have a place for him. I am sorry, but Quinshad said he would not make a choice until he took of the Black and Gold. (you have to respect the kid for staying true to his HS goals). Are we fanatics, yes, and that is how the Pride and Tradition Continues in Titletown, SC. 16 State Championships and counting! and where are you from? woodruff, summerville, or duncan? you need more titles to talk down to Gaffney! I think you are a little short!

    In short yes. Im sorry you are upset and obviously close to him but if he wanted to be a GC he blew it. Everyone wishes him the best but in the real world sometimes you get left behind.

  • Rcn, I am not talking down to anyone and I am not a big fan of any high school team (from Camden originally, but have lived in Texas for a long time).

    I simply believe you Gaffney folks are a bit over the top when it comes to Quinshad. If he ends up at USC, great. If not, good luck to him.

    Why would the OC be pissed. QD was told numbers were tight and we were only taking three WR's. He chose not to commit and we landed three higher star rated players. Now I don't know if they'll turn out to be better college players than QD, but QD is not "Better" than those three in terms of upside, he is probable just as good as those in those terms and maybe a more polished wr at the hs level, but that doesn't mean a great deal, IMO.
