I don't understand why Michigan has alternate Uni's. You can't make the greatest uniform, better. You can only screw it up. I like a lot of alternate uni's, but they are a blue-blood and they have incredible uniforms. It disappoints me to know they won't be wearing them when we play them.

Michigan has alternate uni's because
1. Kids (players / recruits) like alternate uniforms. They are good marketing.
2. Michigan hasn't had a lot to be excited about over the past 5 years
3. Michigan see this game as being so special that it requires a special uniform, I would take that as a compliment. We may wear our practice uniforms.
4. $$$
5. Special uniforms require a press release and a web release and coverage during the game. All media and marketing posturing. They are getting in the news. All designed to make Michigan more relevant.

I understand the reasons behind it, like I said I usually like most alt uni's.
There are just some I hold sacred. Bama, Michigan, Ohio St., Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska, LSU, and Oklahoma

I've always hated UM's unis. Yes they are traditional; traditionally ugly. Different strokes for different folks.
