No idea who would/could come in at this point. I assume there will be an interim coach with a "real" hire after the season. I assume Rodriguez is off the table due to NCAA issues. Doubt Meyer is right for the job. If the NCAA comes down hard on them they may get stuck with a coordinator.

If the UNC boards are to be believed, this was a power play move by the uber-elitist types that really could care less about football to begin with and were horrified that they stained themselves by hiring Butch Davis and by attempting to compete in the gutterball world of college football (like basketball is any better but let's stagger the popping of the balloons so as not to cause them to Mangus all over their weejuns).
As such, the next hire will be made not with winning in mind but with restoring the honor and integrity that is Chapel Hill. This will eliminate any name coach that might win and that won't be the goal anyway. So I'm guessing this guy will be the their next head coach. He dresses the part already.

I would have been horrified too if the stuff that went down at UNC was done at Carolina. Academic fraud, having a runner as your recruting coordinator. That ain't right.

UNC = Duke. Basketball and that's it. I went to a unc uva football game in chapel hill a few yrs ago and it felt like a wofford furman game.

I think the funny thing is that there are people that think Davis should not have been fired.
It should have been done a year ago.

Would be interesting to bring in Tommy Bowden on an interim basis. Just don't see how you could name anyone on that staff as interim.

The new Indiana coach that was OC at I think Oklahoma that everybody loves, he played at UNC, so he might be an option. Not really a big name yet, one year of HC experience- he's already got Dabo and Morris beat when they were hired.

Mike Leach.....would be a perfect fit. Has the graduation rate that would impress the academic guys and is liberal enough in his philosophy to fit right in with the admin guys. goes without saying the football guys would approve.

0% chance of that happening. ESPN is a big partner of the ACC and UNC. Leach is suing ESPN. Leach is a bit unconventional and controversial. They're firing Butch because football has soiled them, they think. They're going to make a hire of a guy that is vanilla, boring, clean as a whistle and in possession of numerous pairs of heavily starched Polo chinos.

Seriously... Went to the va tech game this year to cheer on tyrod showed up in the 2nd quarter and got to pick seats in the student section .... I felt like I was at a middle school hockey game. A lot of clapping no real noise

ESPN is saying an early name is Bud Foster. I hate Va Tech as much as UNC would love for Foster to bounce a few days into the season and head to UNC.
