  • A few of the NCAA investigators are UNC grads. Hmmmmmm. Me thinks the NCAA deserves a LOI.

  • How bad could this get for UNC??? I hope real bad personally.

  • It's going to get real bad. Real bad. This isn't impermissible benefits. This is academic fraud on a massive scale.

  • This isn't just an NCAA issue. This is an AAU issue as well. They should certainly lose their accreditation. Which for them, is like the academic death penalty. Also, they may also get the athletic death penalty.

  • It can't be bad enough as far as I'm concerned. All of college athletics and academics has been snowed for so long by the UNC PR Machine, that I am doubtful anybody is going to do anything even as all this leaks out through the New and Observer. Those sanctimonious Tarholes have convinced everybody they are God's Gift to college athletics for so long, all the while cheating away, chances are they get away with it now too.

  • I, like everyone else, would love to see UNC get screwed by the NCAA on this.

However, if Auburn had the same problems with their Sociology department and the NCAA did nothing, how will the NCAA justify giving UNC the hammer in a similar situation with the Afro-American department at UNC?

The argument for Auburn was that all students had access to these classes, and it was not solely used for the athletic teams. At UNC, it appears that 70% of the people in the classes were athletes, and the rest were non-athletes. Isn't this the Auburn case all over again, where the NCAA stood idly by and did nothing?

    Right.

The thing is, the stuff involving the football team pales in comparison to what happens with the basketball team. Copies of exams before the test, advisors writing papers, etc.
