Update on tater OL Gifford Timothy.....torn meniscus.

  • He will have surgery tomorrow and they hope he'll be back for Auburn game. If needed they'll possibly move Dalton Freeman from center to right tackle and putting a freshman at center. Hope Auburn loads the box and pressures Boyd. It's the easiest way to victory.

  • That would make both of their tackles interior guys playing out of position. The rest of the group is made up of a 275 pound freshman, a recently converted DT who has never played on the offensive line before, and an overweight junior who has been described as "needing to work on assignments, physicality, technique and strength" by their own writers.

Our 2nd team DL would destroy that bunch.

  • Go to Auburn site and read their scrimmage reports. They sound horrible.

still dumbfounded that we lost to them last year.
I'm starting to think the taters will spank them in the Dome. Hope I'm wrong.

Good for that young man that the damage was not more serious. I hope for his sake they do not rush him back for Auburn. He should talk to Bowers about being "all in" while injured.

Sounds like our Oline from last year after all the injuries and Kyle Nunn going down. We had so many guys playing out of their natural position and a true freshman playing Tackle.

  • Thing is auburn can rush the passer with that end they have. Without watkins and no line it could be a low scoring game

Id auburn just comes out and tries to pound the rock they should wear them down

Clemson really needs to score early to control tempo which could be a problem

There's a pretty big talent gap between the guys we had to play last year and Clemson's 1st team OL. That gap widens significantly when you get to CU's backups.

I agree. Leminoir had 9.5 sacks last season. The rest of Auburn's DL are veterans too. That's the type team CU will struggle with. Also, AU's OL averages 318 lbs. I think the taters will be solid at DE, but they are inexperienced and undersized at DT (290/265 lbs). There are certainly some things Chizik can exploit.

    True

But just pointing out that last year we had a similar problem but our guys were able to overcome but our oline was a average at their best and below that most of the time but they never gave up and gave 100% every play. What Connor Shaw did last year at qb was just phenomenal considering what was in front of him. What our oline did last year was nothing short of remarkable given all the injuries we had.

Lots of oline who have always played on the left side have trouble when being moved to the other side as they are doing thing in reverse now. Brandon Shell being able to play both sides is a tribute to his athletic ability.

Not sure Clemson will be able to thrive and overcome like our team did last year. Boyd gets rattled when he has someone in his face and if their strength and conditioning isn't up to par then their oline will be in trouble.

    Culbreth

  • The way you beat Chad Morris offense is to blitz every play and make the quarterback have to make a very quick decision.

    GamecockWorld

  • If there's any truth to the old saying that games are won and lost in the trenches, Auburn should roll in this game. Clemson's issues have been discussed and Auburns last 3 OL recruiting class have been ranked 2nd, 4th, & 4th. Their last 3 DL classes were ranked 5th and 12th with only 1 recruit the other year but he was a 4*. I believe this is where Brian VanGorder ended up which should give then an excellent DC.

You have to put into perspective that if we had won that game Stephen Garcia would have been our QB longer
