    It's unfortunate every tater in the stadium didn't suffer the same fate.

    This is an example of someone that cannot separate football from real life. Just plain ignorant.

    What would piss of Clemson fans more is to not hate them and feel sorry for them as we beat them every year. I remember the days when our football team hated Clemson. They would talk smack all game long and then LOSE.

    I would be more careful about making judgment about force when you have nothing more than a long distance view.

    If he told the cop he was going to kill him he would be charged with that, not have his head bashed against a metal step.

    Spitting on a cop is also not a reason to bang someone's head against a step.

    We obviously have different opinions on what cops are allowed to do. The day that we allow cops to do as they please is the day we will have a police force similar to the ones in third world countries where people are seriously hurt and cops take bribes. Have you been to Mexico? I have a few friends that were kidnapped, robbed and abused in Tijuana.

I would be furious if I saw a Gamecock fan getting slammed like that. But...i'm sure half the people will see nothing wrong with it and half will think it's excessive. That's the world we live in now. We can't seem to agree on anything these days. lol

    Actually, the treatment our fans receive exceeds what happened here last night. Remember what happened to Mrs. Pennington, ( One of our players Mom) in Dung Valley several years ago? She stood & cheered when her son caught a pass & a drunken redneck tater fan threw a whiskey bottle at her, striking her in the head, knocking her unconscious. The tater fans around her stood & cheered, & the tater cops just stood there & laughed about it.

    This tater student last night tried to attack security guards, so they were completely within their rights to take him down with force & restrain him. Besides, his only purpose for being there was to cause trouble. So IMO he got what was coming to him....

    I've been in Death Valley and Littlejohn on numerous occasions and seen Gamecocks and fans of other teams abused verbally and physically while security did nothing.

    Obviously I was being a bit hyperbolic. Anyone with an ounce of insight would know that.

    You and your orange bleeding heart can take a long running start and jump up my rear end.

  • Ocne the cop put his hands on the guy and he does not comply he is taken down, once taken down he is trying to get up again and more force is used. This was handled the right way, simple.

    I'm with you Grookster, who here hasn't gotten drunk and done something stupid. The force looked excessive to me, I understand he may have spit and cussed at the cop and that the cop adrenaline was pumping, but you can't lose control and you can't let your anger dictate your actions. Scary situation.

  • This sort of thing happens a couple of times every season in the student section, and it is absolutely hilarious.

    Also, the people saying it was excessive are morons.

    If you come into an opposing team's student section and taunt the crowd, then taunt a police officer, you have to live with the consequences. If I were the cop, I would have handled it the exact same way.

    IMO, he did the kid a favor. If there were no cops there, he would have been pummeled by hundreds of drunk college kids. Getting slammed to the ground would've been the least of his problems.
