We have to get a RB in this recruiting class. Just the

  • seriousness of Latts injury means he will be limited potentially next year. That leaves Carson, Wilds and Davis as guys with "POTENTIAL" at RB.....I think it is imperative that we land Williams in this class...Not to say some one else on the team will emerge but having a stable of RBS is a must in the SEC

I agree with the sentiment, but I wouldn't use the word "potential" with Wilds.

The rug really tied the room together, did it not?

If ML had remained healthy, there's no guarantee he would have returned for his senior year anyway. I'm sure the coaches had been looking at that possibility as they recruited potential running backs.

While I am too am looking forward to watching Wilds progress I would not say that Wilds is an every down type of back "YET"....I am referring to backs that can carry it 12 to 15 times a game.....

  • I feel pretty confident that we will land Williams. I agree with a previous poster that we need a stable of running backs. Look at LSU. Look at how they use them. They always have a fresh RB to run through a tiring defense. We've had 3 or 4 good running backs is the past but Spurrier won't rotate them as much as I think he should. Marcus has been great but people know pretty much where he runs most of the time. Put a speed demon in there every once in awhile. Give the defense different looks.
Next year I think Wilds and Salley will be our power backs. Shon Carson and Jamari Smith our quick scat backs and David Williams our "Marcus Lattimore" type of back but with a little more speed. Our OL will be a year older and bigger and more experience. I think our team cafeteria should include a separate menu for our OL that includes all cajun food. Look what it does for the LSU big uglies.

I think Mike Davis will be our every down back, with Carson, or whoever else as our change of pace back. No way Williams beats out Davis.

I agree. I think Davis is our every down back but like I pointed out earlier there needs to be a stable of RBs. Williams in my opinion if we are fortunate to sign him needs to come in with the mentality that he plays next year.....

So I guess a couple of 100 yd games isn't enough? Seriously, Wilds is a proven back.

While his response for the team last year was paramount to our success, I can remember countless posters on here that said the best thing that could have happened for Wilds was a redshirt year. Not sure that this allows him to be considered a "PROVEN BACK".....Not to say that he won't be in the future.....

  • So we should forget that he stepped in and carried more than 20 a game down the stretch and we ended the year with our best record in history. OK.

Wilds had 107 carries for 502 yards and played in 13 games. Most of his carries were the last 6-7 games (I am agreeing with you on your point).....Not sure where you are getting 20 carries a game down the stretch

  • Maybe it was the Tenn, Ark, UF, and Citadel stretch, where he averaged 20 carries/game.

  • Idk if we will ever sign another J Clowney or Marcus Lattimore. However, getting Roland & Davis were big & as highly rated as Lattimore & Jeffery in large part.

We've got a very talented Darius English @ DE but I agree, would like to sign an elite DE or 2 in '14 class. Alfy Hill could be big time for a few yrs. I wish we would have really gone after a big time DE in this cycle, maybe we just didn't have a great shot @ another

We've added guys like Kelsey Griffin &Jerrell Adams w/ superstar potential, just @ different positions. Also, guys like Larenz Bryant, Brendan Langley & hopefully David Williams.

I want to see how Kwinton Smith & Shaq Roland look after a yr in the system.

Idk that we will get another Clowney or Lattimore but the success we've had the past few yrs w/ these guys have helped us reel in potential superstars @ every level on both sides of the ball. We should have a lot of talent & depth going forward... Post Lattimore / Clowney, maybe just not that polarizing national player these 2 have been. However, I think we will again be more talented a team as a whole than we were/ are with the teams those 2 are on ... But it's debatable no doubt.

    Brandon Wilds TB 107-486/3 - - -
    ECU DID NOT PLAY
    UGA DID NOT PLAY
    NAVY DID NOT PLAY
    VANDY 3-22/0
    Auburn DID NOT PLAY
    Kentucky 5-45/0
    Miss State 5-8/0
    TENN 28-137/0
    ARKANSAS 10-21/1
    Florida 29-120/0
    Citadel 20-109/2
    Clemson 7-24/0

My only point and this is not a slam on Wilds. I saw the potential but don't think 3 games shows to me that he is proven every down back. Granted that I saw some very impressive games but just don't think he is as proven as some on here think....Again I believe he has potential and has the ability but a ton of posters on here were ecstatic when he redshirted this year
