I agree with the OP, however, I am going to call out an exception. Hockey is one sport where it's ok, if not even preferred, to wear your teams jersey to the game. But only at the game..not a sports bar.
Also, another favorite is found in Article 24 of the Bro Code:
When wearing a baseball cap, a Bro may position the brim at either 12 or 6 o'clock. All other angles are reserved for rappers and the handicapped.

Guys I went to a baby shower for Steve a few weeks back and he had a guest wearing a #9 Detroit Lions Matthew Stafford jersey. No BS, he claimed he had never seen the guy before but gave him a chest bump and then spun around into a basketball shot after he walked into the room.
