Jim's Thursday mornings update ...

High pressure will be building into the Midlands for the remainder of the workweek. Skies will be clear with cold nights and cool days. A few high clouds will pass overhead on Friday making it mostly sunny.

Changes will come to the Midlands over the weekend. The weather will start out fine on Christmas Day. There will be some sun Christmas morning, but clouds will be increasing around midday. It will be mostly cloudy the remainder of the day and it will be a chilly day.

Precipitation will begin to move into the Midlands around sunset. It may begin as rain and then change to snow during the evening. Snow will be likely late Saturday night into Sunday tapering off in the afternoon. There is the potential for a significant snowfall.

There is still considerable uncertainty on the future track of the low pressure system. It is expected for develop in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday and move across northern Florida Saturday night. The system is expected to be intensifying off the South Carolina coast Sunday morning move up the East coast.

It is expected to be windy and turning much colder Sunday as the storm system intensifies off the coast. The snow may not taper off until afternoon. Certainly travel will be impacted through the region Saturday night into Monday.

Very cold air will push into the Midlands and may be amplified by snow on the ground. High pressure will build into the region and will dominate the weather through mid-week. Temperatures will remain much below normal for this time of year.

No to toot your horns for y'all but I am a weather genius based on last years thread to all of my coworkers.

Nobody at work was thinking snow until this morning, and I quickly said the models have gone to hell in a hatbox and our local weather prognosticators as well as the NWS are a day late and a dollar short.

If we end up getting anything other than rain, flurries, sleet and slush, I will look the dope and be quick to direct the blame to some dude from florence county.

pay no attention. I love the weather threads! Many of here are weather geeks. Forecasting is very difficult in the southeast. There are way too many variables. That is why watching the models is so much fun. Let's keep it up! As you can see from the thread....it is way to popular to stop.
