Visiting Germany and other areas of Western Europe this Christmas and have seen about 8" of snow! I love seeing snow at home in South Carolina, but right now I'm a little tired of it and the ice it creates!!

Flo, A lot of talk of suppresion with this L now. I"m guessing this would be good for the state of SC, correct? What are the odds this trends down too far south in you opinion?

I'm with you, I see more storms trend to far north than south. A charleston track would have the midlands and FLo on the edge of rain/snow, I think. Need a more southern track.
I"d be shocked if this turns out as a midlands snow event. Just hard to imagine two events in one year! Upstate looks like they have a great chance. See how this GFS ends up. Looking more in line with the other models so far.

This appears in Columbia's official weather discussion from NOAA, posted at 3:43 this morning. This is for Christmas day...
SNOW APPEARS TO BE THE PREDOMINATE PRECIPITATION TYPE. WILL
INCREASE THREAT FOR WINTRY PRECIPITATION FROM PREVIOUS FORECAST

Which weather model site to you fellow novice use? I've always used this one, but I've never really searched for another and would love to know if there is something better.

According to the NOAA, even the midlands has a 40% chance of snow as of 8:23 this morning. Looks good for Gr/Sp, Rock Hill and Charlotte areas. Am I correct in saying that the farther south the low goes off the coast the better chance of snow there is? Or, does that mean just a better chance of precip for the midlands and low country?

Wow, just looked at another one on the talk weather forum and they say that there could be historical snowfall in parts of N. Carolina.......20-30 inches. I believe they are referring to the eastern half too. Not the mountains. I am a complete novice at this stuff and really have no clue though.
