What are your first year expectations for Frank Martin?

I know some of you are probably going to just say, "Better than what Horn did", and that's fine. If you would like to add more to it than just that post it here. Personally, I don't have very high expectations for him even though I know he's going to bring it. I'm very interested to see how hard he hits the recruiting trail and what he can bring to Columbia. Very excited about this hire as I feel it puts all 3 major sports on the map now. He's a big name. A Kentucky fan said earlier when I shared that Martin was coming to South Carolina, "Oh boy, I thought we would get a few years of not having to worry about the Gamecocks."

Only expectation in year one is to see a tougher team. One that knows how to play tough defense. We have to build our program on that first and it was something that was non-existent since day 1 of the Horn era. It's also something Martin's team has historically done well.
Most of the great teams outside of Syracuse can play tough nosed, disciplined, man to man defense.
I'm not worried about offense off the bat. I want toughness and defense. Those are things you can be consistent with every day.

A quality offensive set, and to contend for a top 4 seed in tge SEC tourney. And the second best defense in the conference.

I think he can get us into the NCAA in 3 years. I was trying to think of who he reminded me of and I can't come up with one person. Maybe a cross between Jim Valvano and Mike Krzyzewski. Not a bad combination. It's going to be fun.

A guess right now would be very uninformed since there could be roster changes - good and bad. I wouldn't expect any post-season next year, but I bet we scare some people bad.

Ask me when we know who is going to be on the team. There might be some recruits signed this spring, and someone might leave the team before next season. It would be hard for me to guess about expectations right now, as far as wins or any post season stuff.
I would expect a tougher team. Better rebounding. Better defense. Better shooting. Better shot selection.

Improvement. As a team. As individuals. A lot of it. That is all.
Big improvement this year could have us contending for an NIT bid. If this happens, and FM signs a good class I will consider Year 1 to be a huge success.

I think that there is talent on this team that will surprise people next year. I think 20 wins as well, NIT easy should be the goal.
All the players will be retained, unless they quit. These guys tried their butts off all year long, and are good young men. That is all Martin asks. They need to get tougher on offense and defense, but I don't think they were really asked to.

This year's team had some potential with any coaching at all. By potential I am not suggesting they were a postseason team but we should had been more than a 10 win team. I think FM will have us in the NIT next season.

Just a better team. I hope the starting 5 will include at least 2 players he can bring in.
