Ridiculous his name was brought up as in you think he would have made the team on his own at UGA, Tenn, Bama, LSU, Auburn, Florida, etc? Come on. A 5'5" receiver?
Nah, he didn't make the team because his dad was the HBC. What was I thinking?

Steve...you started the thread! Now you want to dictate someone's opinion because you apparently have a man crush on Scotty. No one has anything against Scotty. The fact that everyone loves him has nothing to do with it.
You asked who played at a level that had no business being at that level if it were not for being a coach's son. Scotty fits the bill. He was a 5'5" (generous) wide reciever in the SEC- which is a league only surpassed by the AFC and NFC.
A walk on at this level is a hell of a football player. And i think you were being a bit generous calling him a high school "star." So who did he take playing time from? Another walk on. Another third/fourth stringer.
He is precisely what you described when you decided to start the thread. He is a guy that would not have played at this level if it were not for his father being the head coach. If you can't see that, I'm sorry.

He never played, he never embarrassed the university on the field. It's not comparable. We are talking about kid's who played.
Shane Burnham started, and was a joke. As was Cody Hawkins. Saul Smith started in front of Rondo. Can you not see the difference?
Walk-on spots are for kickers, long snappers, then it's all favors to coaches, and coaches sons.
It's a whole new ballgame when one of them starts. That is what the discussion is about.

Steve...he played in 13 games as a Junior and earned a letter. Put on Scholarship as a Senior. That's a pretty decent amount on PT. I would bet his senior stats are similar. Don't tell me he didn't play at all. Go back at look at how many walkon's lettered.
Why can't you just accept the fact that had he not been the son of HBC and brother of JR, he wouldn't have been in that position? Again, you started the thread and now that names are coming out-other than Shane Burnham (who, all he ever did here was bust his ass), you want to add in all of these little hurdles to your question. Did he PLAY, did he EMBARASS the university, did he...who cares? The guy got a chance that he would not have otherwise had if his father wasn't coach. That was the whole point of your thread here.
