What is this News about Horn blaming the fans

  • We gave him 2.4 million dollars. He should just go away.

It's going to be fun seeing all the Horn supporters/ apologist if this is true.

I believe Jelsik was the last one.

Fogler didn't seem to have an issue winning at usc. .. He hardly recruited out of state to accomplish it. He also hated the aau process that rules recruiting.

Horn is to blame for his failure. Recruiting and personnel development are the huge factors... That being said he is getting a large check to remain no longer work for the university that he failed as a coach. Wish we all could be so fortunate

Fogler didn't seem to have an issue winning at USC?

    Really?

Fogler is my favorite USC coach if Felton isn't and I think Fogler had a lot of problems winning at USC.

Bingo. Which speaks volumes IMHO. Fog is an appropriate handle.

Horn basically insinuated that you can't win at USC.

That's what they told Spurrier, but he has managed pretty well.... guess he was a good enough coach to win anywhere.

Obviously I want to coach again but next time I want to make sure I have a chance to win He says he will do better homework looking into the history of winning at the school. No coaching jobs are easy. He will pick a school where the fans can be used in a recruiting asset. I couldn't type fast enough for word for word but this is the jiff. He is taking subtle jabs at USC. He said there is a reason the sweet 16 was filled with teams with fan following. USC is to close to ACC country. SC doesn't have a great depth for recruiting. The players in SC want to play at UNC not USC you have to go out of State. He is blaming every one but himself. These guys are taking up for USC and comparing Horn and what he had when he came here and what Staley had and where they both are now. There is no excuses. Horn sounds pretty sad IMO.

I don't consider these jabs subtle at all. They sound pretty direct to me.

If he thought he could be successful here without having to recruit primarily out of state, he really didn't do his homework before he took this job. I thought he was supposed to be a smart guy.

Yeah when I finally heard the remarks for myself they were not subtle at all. the host was saying they were subtle read between the line remarks seem pretty clear he is blaming everyone else.

Agree. And no fans anywhere are going to support a loser. Probably the only places they will even show up are places like KY, Duke, and UNC because it's an event...and if you lose there then you're going to get fired fast. He is correct in that we are not bball first fans, but not many schools are...and several football first schools have had successful bball programs with the right coach...Ohio St, Florida, etc.

Heard the commentators in the OSU game talk about Matta reaching out to Donovan and a couple others about coaching at a football school. Thought that was interesting - said after speaking with them he was good to go. I guess some guys who haven't earned the right to be picky (Horn) think they have the right to be picky. You can win at USC, and the fans have proven they will support a winner....period.

  • Horn couldn't develop players . He couldn't inspire them either. He was pretty much a train wreck ....

+1 That guy's posts always amaze me. Hyman could fire SOS and hire Abo and he would think it was a brilliant idea.

  • So, basically he's saying that things need to be perfect around him to have a chance to win. Sure sounds like a winner to me, lol. blah

  • I heard his statements on ESPN and read the quotes. It is merely another sign that he took this job not fully comprehending the amount of work it takes to build us back up. He didn't even know that you need to go out of state here to recruit, and that this was a realization that hit him later on. He was in over his head and his statements reflect that.
