What should I plan to do/visit @ Kentucky?

  • I'm planning on going up there this year. I need recommendations on where to eat, drink, gamble, hooligans, etc. Fire away, never been there

They moved the game up a week this year so the racing at Keeneland won't start until the following week, which sucks. I'm gonna do some of the bourbon trail on Friday. Just sent a request to these folks:http://www.rrlimo.com/packages/kentucky-bourbon-trail-other-tours...but haven't heard back yet. There are supposed to be 2 distilleries that you can ride 4 wheelers between as well.

Buffalo Trace is not on the official bourbon tour but I highly recommend it.

  • I've heard tailgating for this game is fun. Can y'all confirm this? Cool atmosphere?

  • If it seems weird that you show up 5 hours early for the game and you're parking right up next to the stadium for $20 it's a hoax. Either 6 or 8 years ago my parents went early to tailgate (like most Gamecocks) and a guy with an orange flag waved them into a lot right up next to the stadium for $20. At that time it was about 25-30 cars and they were all Gamecocks.

Fast forward a half hour or so and a bunch of cops showed up and told them they had to move because that was some high priced donor lot. My dad and 3 or 4 other dudes told them that they paid $20 to park there and they already had their tents up and they weren't moving. The cop told them some dude that wasn't affiliated with the university pulled this off and they were looking for him. Apparently, someone had done this the season before and they never caught him.

They finally agreed to move after talking to about 15 people including the university PD, the city of Lexington PD, and some AD people. They moved their cars accross the street another 50 yards away into another lot that was still nice but just further away. My dad said in the next 2 hours they watched brand new BMWs, Denalis, Escalades, etc pull in that lot one after the other. They were literally in the UK equivalent of their Diamond and Golden Spur parking lot. The dude made off with over $500 cash that morning for about 30 minutes worth of work.

I have always thought that was happening in some places. Seems too easy to get away with

  • Did the bourbon trail. Woodford reserve is a real cool place. My personal favorite.
