I want a proven Head Coach with a long track record of success. Not to say that either of those two would be bad, but we will be an attractive job, I want to hire the best guy out there.

If Lorenzo Ward turns out to be a good full-time coordinator for us, I would favor him. He is already a good recruiter and would probably be even better as a head coach. If that happens, then you could promote Elliott or Mangus to OC.
Honestly though... it will depend on the state of the program when Spurrier retires and who is availible at the time.

Not giving him the job was much more risky at the time than giving him the job and the chance to succeed/fail.
similar in some ways to the position we are in with Tanner imo.

If tanner gets the job, I'm fine with it and will support him. Seriously. I mean that and think he would probably do fine to great.
I do not think there is a whole lot of consequence to not giving it to him though. BOT politics, I suppose. Maybe you lose Holbrook as successor.

By your qualifications we wouldn't have a shot at such a coach. Any such coach in that position would look at this job as a step down. Let's not get carried away, we are a good program. We got to win championships to be great

If the decision is made to promote from the current staff, then I would like to see Coach Elliott promoted.
If they go outside, even though Hyman is no longer here, I'd still like to see us go after Gary Patterson.
