Why I'll be pulling for N.C. State over UT

  • It's not about hating anybody; it's about wanting to put a potential SEC East rival out of the way.
The Vols are a fragile team. Like Chris Low says, if they lose their first two games, to N.C. State and Florida, there's a very good chance they'll go in the tank.

One good reason: Tennessee - SEC Blog - ESPN

Our One good reason series focuses on the Tennessee Volunteers today. Good reasons. Alabama Arkansas Auburn Florida Georgia Kentucky

  • I predict 6-6...Bray wont make it the season...he will get kicked off for something bone headed....Dooly fired and they hire Kirby Smart from Bama......

I'll definitely be a Dawg for one day in 2013, when UGA plays Clemtech.

  • Sorry, but 99 times out of a 100 I can't pull for anyone over an SEC team when it may weaken our SOS. We'll beat UT anyway and it'll look better with them having beat NCS.

  • NC State being good doesn't hurt us and it makes life more difficult for Clemson.

Tennesse being terrible and going through another coaching change probably helps us.

I hope the east is "down" from here to the end of time so long as we dominate it. Tennessee being up does nothing good for us. That is the team we really need to put our foot on. Georgia and Florida have to royally screw up to be bad. Tennessee does not have their resources.

Agree. If we can't handle Tennessee at home without NC State making them "fragile" then we don't deserve to beat them. I will always pull for an SEC team against the ACC. And like you said, hurts our SOS if they lose, not to mention gives the ACC homers something to brag about.

  • No way, I want every SEC team to win their out of conference games, especially against the EZZ.
Then I want TN and GA to lose in the conference!

  • Obviously, some of you don't remember 1986. We should only pull for nc state in one game.

Well said. I'll be pulling for NC State against UT. I want them to stay down.

  • There are 3 SEC teams I almost always pull against when they play a non SEC team: Tennessee, Georgia, and Auburn. Go Pack.

  • Yeah, living in Raleigh, I don't mind pulling for NC State. They're sort of a battered fan base and always expect the worst, so it's not a bad thing to see good things happen for them. I was also behind the potential turnaround of their basketball team until Early tampered and tried to get dirty with players on our roster. Screw that guy. But their fans are far more tolerable than UNC's or the bandwagon Duke fans who didn't even attend the university.

Amenx3. Totally agree. I can't stand NCSU but hope they wear UT out.

This will be fun. I will probably be a Dawg fan as well, but we really can't lose that one.

  • The east being down is nonsense in terms of where we are. Just because some programs have declined doesn't mean we have stayed put while they decline. Regardless of what other programs have done, we have inclined and are continuing that trend this fall hopefully.

  • No way. I do "like" NC State and O'Brien as far as ACC teams go, but if State beats UT and Clem beats Auburn ...all we'll hear the next few weeks is how the ACC is back and the SEC is top heavy. I would prefer that the SEC teams sweep those early OOC games.

The rug really tied the room together, did it not?

^This. Don't forget they deliberately target Todd Ellis in the 1989 and ended his career with the knee injury. I have no love for NC State...

  • It's a no brainer. If you are a South Carolina fan why in the hell would you pull for any SEC team besides us (unless they're playing clemPson of course)? I get so tired of the "it makes us look better" or "strength of schedule" crap. I remember when Tennessee, Georgia, Florida beat us like a drum. I love the fact we're 6-0 against them the last two years. I love the fact Tennessee and Florida have been down a little recently. Why??? BECAUSE WE RECRUIT AGAINST THEM!! WE COMPETE WITH THEM!! I hope NCST beats them 40-0! Anything to possibly make them start over again searching for a new coach I'm all for it. Believe me guys, if South Carolina goes 12-0 or 11-1 I don't care about our strength of schedule. We'll be playing for a title or at least get a playoff spot and you can take that to the bank. It still amazes me how many fans use the SEC conference as a crutch to make us look good. I want to see NCST do good so maybe they'll attract better recruits to beat clemPson's arse.

    VisorVillain

  • News Flash! We recruit very heavily in NC and so does NCS. NCS being able to sell the fact that they can beat SEC teams and compete for ACC chumpionships doesn't help our cause when we're going after the same recruit, which we so often do.

    signature image

    LedCock

  • NCSU doesn't get many recruits we are after. UT does. I get the whole SEC vs ACC thing, but UT is in our division. We play them every year, they recruit the same kids, we compete with them for the East. UT will not stay down forever, don't believe that for a second. I will pull for NCSU in this one, ACC vs SEC be damned. UT is a threat, NCSU is not.

signature image signature image signature image

    Mountainman2

  • I have mixed emotions about this game. The only thing about NCS is they are an ACC team and they SUCK!!! UT will have no problems with the pack. As much as I can't stand Tyler Bray he will lead his team to victory over a way lesser team, even when UT is down.
