Why are you NOT attending the ECU game?

Not making it because I will be playing Pebble Beach

That's no excuse! You got to schedule that crap midweek in the Fall, just like freaking weddings!!!!

I'm leaving for Pinehurst at 4pm today, and will be back Thursday morning. That way, if we had a game on Thursday night, I'd be there.

You got to get your priorities straight. You can play Pebble year round. Football season lasts one quarter.

    Just kidding...

    ...maybe.

  • I seriously considered going but am going to Athens the next week and then we have a string of home games that I'll be coming into town from ATL. Can't make them all. And I didn't consider your question a bad one. I hope we have a huge crowd there. Wish I could be there as well.

........ This should be a bowl game environment.

I certainly hope this is not a 'bowl environment'. I would much rather prefer a 'home field' environment.

  • Because we have a 3 month old. We have a babysitter lined up for all the Home Games though. Wish we could make it though considering we used to live in Charlote, but will be happy watching on tv.

  • because I have other things I'd rather do on a long (Labor Day) weekend. I'll be watching on TV though.

  • I really would love to go, but we can't afford an extra full day of babysitting in addition to the home games. I will be watching and wishing I could be there.

  • I'll be there, but you have to remember that this is a road game. We don't send anymore than 20-30 k to The Dump and Athens, so I don't know why anyone thinks that the numbers will be higher in Charlotte (I"m guessing we are sending close to that amount on Sept. 3).

Also need to add that people aren't going to pay gas money to see us play ECU with us being a two touchdown favorite. I don't mean that to be an insult to ECU, but the experts aren't thinking it is going to be much of a contest.

my 2 brothers, my dad and I, got to play there 2 yrs. ago we as a family are some of the most loyal gamecocks around, but we scheduled for March, cause we were pretty sure there was no Madness to worry about as far as hoops were concerned.

  • I'll be there. I'm actually closer to Charlotte than Columbia by about 30 miles. Pretty excited about the trip.

FWIW, you can get tickets for ~ $75 online. hop on the train at 485/ South Blvd(free parking deck) for 2 or 3 dollars. hang out at the WFNZ doghouse (mint/morehead) regular priced beer/ hotdogs/scenery etc. it doesn't have to be a bank breaker.

OK, but where do you get off the train?

  • Have tickets but must babysit the 2029 Georgia Player of the year and Gamecock commitment. I will be repeating Gamecocks. Predict he says Gamecocks before Mom.
Incidentally I bought tickets which will be put to use.
I am puzzled why it is such a secret as to how many tickets have been sold to date.

    Fellow TBS members,

I sit here and read numerous post about ticket sales and I wonder to myself.. If Gamecock fans are reading TBS spending $100 a year to read the best insider info available why are they not going to the opening game of the most hyped season in GAMECOCK history. I know several people don't live close but... The reason of this post is I want to hear why you, fellow TBS members, if you are not going to the game, then WHY?? Everyone I know is going to the game and contributing to a sale out, what are your reasons? Nothing personal, just curious as to why there will not be a sale out, if there isn't one! Let's rock that joint!

  • I'm glad somebody asked that question. I spend a lot of time on SECTalk.com also and one day somebody asked the same question and I was REALLY surprised at the number of people who (though they know every stat, every player's name, rank and serial number) frequent message boards that never go to games.

Sure, I understand money is an issue with a lot of people, but to me, I can't imagine any better way to spend my recreational cash. When talking about the Charlotte trip, it's just a couple of hours from about anywhere in SC, so basically it's just a day trip. My wife and I would rather travel two-days-at-a-time to go to road games than spend a week at the beach or mountains for our vacation. Home games are just an hour away, but tailgating all day with the same 15 to 20 people every time I show up is worth more than the price of admission.

We went to 10 games last year including USC's first ever trip to the SEC Championship Game. Kinda like golf.... you can't birdie every hole if you don't birdie the first one.

As a side note: I tailgate with a guy who has missed only one USC game since 1977. It was the death of his father in 1980, and he said he still haven't forgiven him... LOL.

unlike the uptown arena, you still have a walk from the train stop. you get off at stonewall st and walk a couple blocks. i did that last week for the panther game and was disapointed that it didn't stop closer to the stadium. i am driving and parking for ecu
