I think most of the time its because we already get mostly developed talent and they already excel at whatever it is they do. Stephen strasbourgs are rare because he wasn't recruited highly due to his weight and work issues. That changed. The rest is history. Other than that i don't know

I think Steve was exaggerating a bit, but I have wondered the same as how Vandy, Florida, and LSU seem to get pro-ready arms to come to college and we have not done that. Obviously it's not a big problem because we have more wins than anyone in the past 3 years

That was kind of my point. You can't name more than 4 or 5 in the last couple of years that actually throw 100.

I agree getting a flamethrower with control and command of other pitches would be very good (a la Vandy and UF last year).

That said, I wouldn't trade our staffs in 2010 or 2011 for anyone. Our ERAs were sick.
Our two dominant Friday starters included one that topped out at 90 and one that tops out at 87 or 88.

The good mid nineties guys are hard to consistently pull in recruiting, but I am certainly in favor of getting some IF they can actually pitch.

I could almost bet their isnt a college player that throws 100 mph. If any kid growing up throws 100 mph I am sure scouts make sure he doesnt play college baseball. Most MLB players dont throw 100 mph. I am pretty sure the number is lower than 5.
