Why would Bryant be interested in Clempson?

  • I know highly rated players who are seniors in high school think they're the best player to ever play their position. They think they'll step on campus and take a starting spot early just like they did in high school when they were in the 9th or 10th grade. However, with the LB's Clempson has brought in over the past couple of years and considering that 4 of their 6 current commitments in the 2013 class are LB's why would any other LB consider them this year? If he grew up a die hard Tater then I could certainly understand it but he's not. I wouldn't want to be a true or redshirt freshman battling 20 other players for 3 spots. The odds are certainly not in his favor.

PS -- How many damn LB's does Clempson need?

I dont get it either. He says he grew up a South Carolina fan. I know for me, had I gotten an offer from USC, it would have been a no brainer. I went to USC anyway(Lou must not have liked my film), but I dont get it. We have what, five seniors at LB? We need to add at least 3 guys at LB this cycle IMO, though we do have some tweeners types already committed who could play either DL or LB. But why would a kid he grew up a USC consider Clemson. If Clemson had been my only scholarship, I would have walked on at USC. Im sure some will say no you wouldnt but I was fortunate to have a family who could afford my tuition, so yes, without a doubt I would have turned down CU even if it was my only offer.

It does bother me when I read abotu a kid who grew up a Clemson fan and wouldnt even give us the time of day and commits really early. That does not seem to work for us. Never understood why.

I was thinking the same thing. Are they gonna change to a 2-5-4 defense?!

Kind of like Ryan Norton. Sorry, but if you have a scholarship offer from both USC and Clempson and you commit to Clempson REALLY EARLY on May 28th then you never were a Carolina fan to begin with. Sorry.

Dabo and co. rivals Obama when it comes to selling people, in this case, Bryant, on why one should jump on board and be a part of something historic...Throw in the fact he's a bigtime player and a Carolina fan, and he's a big priority for them...As to why he would go there when thery have LBs already on campus and committed, you can bet he's been told the others are being moved to other positions, and the defense will center around his abilties..

Once the kid sees where he would truly get immediate playing time and play for a coach who is capable of winning against people other than Wake, Duke, and BC, he will want to come to Columbia...This will be a battle to the end however, IMHO.

I dont even know who this guy is. But if he claims to be a USC fan, and goes to clemson while having a USC offer, he is either scared of competition(which means I dont want him on this team) or like you said, he isnt a USC fan.

It would be wise to stck with the facts that have been presented on TBS. Larenz Bryant has consistently said he grew up a USC fan. Secondly, it's ridiculous to say he is scared of competition. Our coaches think he is a tremendous talent and have made him a priority, per Tony and others on here.

Finally, it has been well documented by Tony and others that we fell behind in his recruitment when Jay Graham left and another AC was assigned to him. That coach is no longer with us, so Sean Elliott had a lot of ground to make up, which he is doing very well.

I just find it odd that you or anyone else can not understand how a player can grow up a fan of a certain school and ultimately sign with a rival. Ryan Norton was a USC fan, but he liked the depth chart better at Clemson. DJ Swearinger was a Tennessee fan according to the interview on TBS recently. Plenty of our baseball players grew up Clemson fans.

It's just an argument that has no validity, in my opinion.
