  • Do we have to now worry about passed balls?

  • IMO Rosenburg is a better catcher than Greiner. Griener has a better arm and probably more upside with his bat. But I like the way Rosenburg receives the ball.

Rosenberg caught quite a bit this year. I think we're good. He doesn't have the howitzer GG has but his arm is better than most backups in the SEC! I get the feeling he is going to come up big for us this weekend. Guys like him have come up big the past 2 seasons when we needed someone to step in and step up.

  • How many passed balls has Griner had this year? Is it just one?

Hopefully some where round about his mitt. I wouldn't put too much water in a game winning RBI vs VMI.

While I respect your opinion, I don't feel that is the case at all. Greiner had zero passed balls going into the LSU series. He was worn out, and had two that series, but Greiner is the better catcher in all areas. This is no disrespect to Rosey, as he is excellent as well.

2 he had two in the LSU series, they were his first two. He had been overused a little, and was worn out. They are both good. Greiner is as good as you will ever see.

Passed balls is about the least important stat to look at with a college catcher. Maybe something to look at in high school or little league, but catchers at this level don't get passed balls except occasionally.

Rosenburg looks quiet behind the plate to me. Suttle movements when receiving the ball get more strikes called than jerky movements. Griener is good at this too. I don't think Rosey will strike out as much as Griener either. Obviously Tanner thinks Griener is better and he knows more about these guys than I do, but I promise Rosenburg is not a noticeable step down. I happen to think he is better. This is not a slap at Griener, I think he is excellent and has more upside. I think we have two really good catchers.

i like dante as well - he is a very, very good receiver and was recruited for that reason. however, we will suffer some offensively - grayson does not have high numbers, but he's been firmly entrenched in that 4, 5 or 6 spot and has been pretty productive, particularly in sec play. my other concern is rosenberg having to catch, potentially, 3 or 4 games straight games.
