Yalls thoughts on Spring Games...

  • uschxc said...

we're good yall suck. those are my thoughts.

I think more so than offense versus defense I was impressed with the continuity and flow of both teams in this year's game. It was a bit refreshing to not see a bunch of guys running around being redirected to the correct location in the package or set. It looked like there was a great flow and rhythm to all three phases. No one running onto to the field then getting screamed at to come back off type of thing. It looked like (as a whole) the team football IQ has been raised substantially. I watched a little of Bama's and UNC's spring games and apart from a few plays here and there it was boring and out of sync. Miscues and mental errors. I am thankful that as of April 15th, 2012 I can confidently say that we have more than a good football team, we have a winning program, a culture that tramples out mediocrity and demands excellence.

  • A lot of young guys play in the spring game, along with guys being mixed and matched as a group. So a guy could be playing both safety positions, or corner positions, switching sides, out on back to back series. It's all about getting the inexperienced any many snaps as possible. Plus The D has been getting the best of the O all spring. Nothing to lose any sleep over. The offense is the area that has struggled so the Oline doing well and QBs doing well gives people a warm fuzzy.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.

  • My opinion of the spring game is, we have a much better, more disciplined QB than last year.

It seems to me...that at practices/Spring games...fans always are "pulling" for the offense. Do yall agree?

It's like if Shaw was 21-26....302 through air...75 on ground...3 td's and no picks....most fans would be maj happy. Or if Andre Ellington ran 18 times for 153 yards...our fans would be thrilled about the production from the OL/RB, with a complete disregard of how our make shift OL somehow dominated our defensive front 7....

Even when I read Tony's practice observations or someone giving highlights of the spring game thread or practice number 1 and it's 7 on 7 work...the offensive plays are always highlighted, and fans are re-acting positively or negatively to the offense without much consideration for the defense.

Prime example...we are on the 6th hole at Woodcreek today...one of my buddies who's member here says..."Shaw just threw 70 yarder to Byrd". The entire 4some was either thinking, or said "Damn that's bad ass". None of us saw the play....but you have ZERO thought of..."Damn is our corner on that side too slow? Did he bite on a fake? Was it a missed assignment?.....I mean maybe it was absolutely perfect coverage...Shaw just made a hell of a throw and put it in the 1ft window where the defender couldn't get to it and Byrd could catch it in stride and he scored quickly....but regardless that play just kind of proves my point.

I can understand it I guess....I mean who goes to a spring game and is pulling for 3 and out after 3 and out...but I've always felt that if Tony reports that Garcia was 7 for 22 in the spring game with 2 or 3 sacks taken then fans would be worried about the offense....well maybe yall just happen to have the 3rd best D in the nation and your offense won't play one as good unless they make it to Atlanta.

Anyone else feel the same? Clemson fans same way...and it's not bc we have Morris and our D gives up speed limit to people....but I've felt this way even when the D was the strength of our team.

    Just don't understand it.

  • Flobird,

How is me thinking Clemson would win being fake? I thought Price would play.

I can see me saying we'd get ass kicked on here, and saying other places I thought we'd win as being fake but your rational is the absolute dumbest thing I've ever heard.

So a walk on left tackle in Phillip Price is worth 21 points? And I'm irrational?? Lol.

Cheer for your team. You should. But don't hype up my team for 11 1/2 months then say you are better than us b/c of your walk-on LT. That, my tater friend, is dumb.

Did I say we would have won if Price played? Absolutely not.

I was told and read Price was healthy and good to go. That effected my thought process in thinking Clemson could or would win the game.

You act like we were 21 point dogs and I was crazy for thinking Clemson could win.

Why do you continually put words in my mouth?

Woodrow, not trying to put words in anyone's mouth, but I think the over riding thing is other than being a fan, in a lot of people's mind, there was not a lot of logical reasons Clemson should have been picked to beat USC last year given the way Clemson was playing at the time.
It's the same old same old. Clemson was not very good at all for the last five games. If not for the win over VT, one could say REALLY bad, but Tiger Nation led by Dabo has once again hit ctrl-alt-del and those memories are gone and here come the predictions - as we hear every friggin year - of how great Clemson is going to be. You have two good WR's, your O-line is not going to be good, you are an injury away (an injury that will occur) to having no running game and your brilliant OC cannot seem to coordinate the running game anyway, IMHO your QB is remarkably over rated, your D-line once again looks very avg, your LB's epitomizes the Clemson spin machine, your DB's are what you've played with the last several years, you've got a schitzo place kicker, you have little talented depth. IMHO I don't think Clemson is very good.

I'm just pointing out you I don't think your approach here is genuine. JMO. Answer these for me:

1- SOS or Dabo if you had the choice?

2- Clem or USC program in better shape?

3- would you swap personnel if you could with us?

4- do you sleep with your mother too?

5- do you cheat to get players?

6- do we cheat to get players?

7- what punishment should NCAA levy against us for recent infractions?

    8- is the SEC overrated?

9- why did you puck Clem to beat us last year?

10- do you miss the 80's?

    11- was Dabos rant orchestrated?

12- did you enjoy Dabo rant ?

13- hole in one or 12 LB bass?

  • 1- SOS or Dabo if you had the choice? SOS, but would take Ellis above him.

2- Clem or USC program in better shape? #1 reason why yallve dominated us so much. Your players literally are in better shape.

3- would you swap personnel if you could with us? Yes. Especially DL-OL

4- do you sleep with your mother too?

5- do you cheat to get players? I don't.

6- do we cheat to get players? Think Mangus is probably a little shady. Think Lawing is. But think you need to be a little shady to even be competitive.

7- what punishment should NCAA levy against us for recent infractions? Think more than yall offered, but less than Ohio State or UNC bc I think Spurrier would turn his own assistant coach in before he cheated.

8- is the SEC overrated? The East probably is in your eyes the last 2 years, but the SEC is probably not given the respect it deserves.

9- why did you puck Clem to beat us last year? Bc we were the highest ranked offense yall were going to face from a statistical standpoint, I thought we were due, and thought the embarassment vs NCSU would allow us to be highly motivated vs yall.

10- do you miss the 80's? Yes. I'd be playing in backyard or woods with some buddies, maybe little league game this pm vs going with wife to visit friends who just had baby.

11- was Dabos rant orchestrated? Clearly

12- did you enjoy Dabo rant ? Think he did it more to pump up our team for VT. All those ex players were all over twitter saying they'd "sell out" for him saturday.

13- hole in one or 12 LB bass? Got 2...so clearly 12. Think I had a double digit hooked up at WCF 3 weeks ago and broke me off. Got about 5ft from boat and buddy saw him and I didn't. He said biggest fish he's ever seen, and we've both caught 8's.
