I am as excited as anyone to get Marcus back ASAP however, based upon the length of time for a full recovery, Marcus's running style, his pro potential as well as all of our desires to see him back 100% (...btw.. I'm no physician and I know they know best,) I would like to see Marcus take next year as a redshirt to continue to workout and get stronger. Come back in 2013 100% win the heisman and be the #1 pick in the nfl draft. If he were your brother or son and you could advise him, what would you say to this recommendation?

Lattimore should be fine. In fact he should be fine by June or July. I imagine they will keep his carries low in practice and scrimmages, but theres no reason he shouldn't play, unless he wants a RS for some reason.

Coaches down play injuries a lot. No one will really know how he's going to look until he gets out there. With the type of injury he had, im skeptical he'll be 100% the Marcus Lattimore we remember. If anyone can do it though, its him.

NFL is a passing league now. You wont see a RB drafted No.1 any time soon.

Actually with his surgery, he will be "healed" by late March. The problem is in retraining the knee muscles. This is why you won't see a decrease in pre-season carries. The more practice time he gets on the knee the faster he will return to form. The James kid in Oregon even stated last season that he made a mistake of sitting out to much practice time instead of putting pressure on the knee and developing those muscles need for making cuts.
ML knows his future is in the NFL and he has been and will continue to get the best medical and training advice there is available outside of USC and within USC. This kid is special. I also don't think he will see his carries reduced that much unless it's late in a blow out. He's a work horse back, you have to keep feeding him the ball. Spurrier made a mistake in the middle of the season by cutting his carries, IMHO>

I know ya'll think Marcus is a great football player, but I swear I believe his character exceeds his football abilities. What a great role model for young people as well as adults.

Most NFL teams try to have at least 2 backs to carry the load these days. So I agree you will rarely see a RB,WR, or Corner go #1 unless you are the Lions. More times then not its a QB, OT, or DE. No RB has been drafted #1 in the last decade. I'm not saying Latts doesn't deserve consideration, but it is what it is
