#4 at Spring Valley
#9 at Crickentree
#1 at Forest Lake
Best-
#18 at Windermere

This is a hard, but good thread.
Orangeburg country club 13, 14, 15, 400 plus par fours, not to mention 580-600 yard 18th.
Love Lake Marion 16, 17, 18th, good chance to make birdie or eagel on 16 & 18, but hard to make par on 17.

If you think that SVCC is the worst course ever you must have been kicked in the head by a mule as a small child. In it's heyday it was a great very well thought of course. There are at least 5 worse golf courses in Columbia. Best two courses I believe are Woodcreek and Columbia CC. Windemere is a good Dye layout but a great layout in pitiful condition because of money is a sad creature to look at or play on. Courses with average layouts (like Wildewood) in average condition aren't much fun either. Of course all of this tempered by watching on tv or in person the condition and layout at The Augusta National. What a tournament. Come on Phil!

Golf Courses are one area where Greenville (upstate) has Columbia beat all to hell.

Key phrase, in it's heyday. I lived there 10 years and saw it evolve from once a nice upscale neighborhood to become run down. They ruined the club when they redid the course. That club is only good for visitors that have reciprocity from other courses.

Don't forget Lexington. Great course with lots of well thought out holes. Former Sage Valley super has it in excellent shape. Very affordable membership rates also.

I've played SVCC plenty of times. I agree the area has gone down however the golf course is still one of the best in town. You are absolutely crazy if you think that course is crap. It's a great test of our ability to move the golf ball around and make putts with a lot of break in the greens. They re-did the greens about 4 or 5 years ago. Played there about a month ago an it was in perfect shape. There are also some of the best amateur golfers around out there.
As far as best and worst holes...
Best: SVCC #11, 18
Woodcreek #18
Windermere #8, 18
Worst: Forest Lake #10
Northwoods #14
Charwood #3 red

5 and 14 at Lexington are good, tough holes. Love that course. The 19th at LinRick is great because of the surly clubhouse staff.

he has to mean 17 at svcc, which is an awful hole. 16 is a pretty good par 3. 15 is horrible also
