dirty line play

  • i think michigan on both ol and dl was as dirty as i have seen in a while. they held clowney all day, and it was very obvious. cheap shop artist. we didnt run the ball hardly any, just couldnt get their front blocked. worst officals i have seen in a while as well.

  • I agree wth all of the above. The entire officiating crew for this game should be barred from all future college games! Dirty line play by Michigan was totally ignored by this crew.

  • Serious question, not being a smart alec, what did they do that was so dirty? I know Lewan grabs jersey EVERY play, I saw that when I watched the Northwestern replay, but otherwise, not sure they were "dirty". I saw a couple of their guys grab facemasks but I still wouldn't consider that dirty. The refs have a responsibility to call that crap early and establish control of the game. If you noticed, once they called the late hit on one of their guys for shoving Connor, that shoving and pushing stopped. What dirty plays did you see?

  • I saw a lot of hands to the face / head

  • I saw Lewan grab a handful of Clowney's hair and jersey at the beginning of the game. Things happen in football but I consider that cheap. Kind of like hitting a guy in the junk.

  • Lewan pulled Clowneys hair early in the game.

    Go Gamecocks !!!

  • I got flamed for saying this earlier. The guy facemasking Fordham looked to be attempting to injure him. Lots of other examples.

I did not see it, but my bride called it immediately
Not to mention the offensive facemask calls, which I commended the officiating crew for calling.
Guess they went blind in the second half.
Winners don't cheat, cheaters never win, is what my old golf partner used to say.
Wish it were true in football

i think you may be on the way to answering your own question.

  • I wouldn't call grabbing jersey a cheap play. If officials aren't calling holding I'd call it smart. If you happen to grab a wad of hair because a player has rapunzel hair, I'd say that's clowneys problem.

The rug really tied the room together, did it not?

if you watched the same game i did and did not see dirty plays by their linemen on both sides of the ball, ok, but i just have a different opinion. i also believe that is taught by their coaching staff, but that is just my opinion.

  • Did clowney not take a helmet to the nuts too? Suh would have been proud.

That was Smith that had the helmet.

Guess JD showed him what happens when you mess with the bull. You get the horns.

  • Saw several uncalled facemasks by the UM OL. Didn't get the feeling that UM was dirty overall though.

  • I don't think they were dirty, just taking advantage of some of the worst reffing I've seen in years.

Though I do know I wouldn't want Lewan on my NFL team, he won't get away with that many holds & facemasks at the next level.

    Excessive......yea.
