I didn't see anything about them receiving both kick-offs like you say. All I see is in the article is them talking about the 22 minute play review. Where did you see something about them receiving both kick-offs?

SEC referees would have never apologized. They would have said they did it by the book.

I went to high school in Hawaii and saw many games where the officials favored the "home" team.
This occurred in football and in basketball. Visiting coaches would be pissed as hell.
Many teams would visit Hawaii at the end of the season as a way to reward the players. Generally, they would start off the game taking it easy on Hawaii. (Rememer, this was the early 70's before June Jones, etc.) After they saw the refs in action, they would just pound it up the middle until UH was worn out. Many teams would complain about the officiating. I'm sure the WAC officials are much better, but apparently they still have problems.

we kicked off to start both halves before. we won the toss and out capt said "defend" not "defer".

Well if Hawaii won the toss, then deferred their choice to the second half, and the opponent decided to kick off to them, then that was the opponent's fault.
