BA is not all there is to it. In Vergason's case he has a on base % of .411 which is very good and he has really helped. Clearly we have some guys who are not being run producers and someone besides Walker has to step up.

As I said last night, there are players that get hits and then there are players that know HOW to hit.....Walker is the only one that knows HOW to get that hit when needed.....

Batting average is the worst indicator of quality AB's and I wouldn't call Vergason a starter (only 41 AB's). Do we need to improve - yes. Some of these guys have contributed more than the higher "average" guys.

Dantzler's RBI total's tell a different story. You can't just go by average, Adrian Morales didn't have a great average, but when runners were on base he knocked them in.

Greiner, vergason, and Matthews (.290) all have higher batting averages in the 267 range in conference games.
Actually the conference pitching numbers are worse than the hitting.
