  • efficient. I am not going to beat a dead horse, but a few guys just are not getting the job done, and we have some kids on the bench who really deserve a shot.

    There is always concern when you leave guys on base and are struggling at the plate.

    But I think we just have to accept the fact that this is who this team is. We have really not scored a lot of runs the last couple of years. This year seems to be a little worse. But I think it is just who we are.

    Not sure who the guys on the bench are that deserve a shot. We have tried different players at different positions this year. We are playing pretty well right now so I don't think we need to tinker with the lineup too much. I think we have our best team out there right now when you look at both defense and offense.

  • I don't think anyone can do any better that hasn't already had their shot. With the exception of maybe DH, we have our best team on the field.
    Truth of the matter is, defensively, we did an extraordinary amount of spectacular things right in the infield the last couple of years, and did an abnormal amount of things wrong. I have thought about it, and Wingo is the best glove to ever play at USC. Haney was great, Meyer was great, but neither of them were in the same league as far as range and smarts. Kid was a vacuum. He could also will the ball to himself in clutch situations.

    That infield the last couple of years has us spoiled, and has given us unrealistic expectations. Haney batted, what, .240? Imagine how our offense would be without our 2nd best hitter.

    Truth is, going 8 of 9 in the conference or whatever it is now; we don't have a lot to complain about.
