Have a real problem with this - if the kid was "healthy" enough to catch 18 innings in one day at the CWS (2-3 weeks) following surgery then he should be have the opportunity, experience and honor to play for his country.

Was told it was a family decision that South Carolina had nothing to do with it. A 69 game season is a lot and most guys need a break after playing so long. He'll be in the weight room getting stronger and more durable, which will better serve him than playing for Team USA, in my opinion.

What is wrong with you? It is his decision...leave it alone.

You should have never said anything about it...it is none of the concern. You are trying to start trouble where none exists.

It's also his responsibility to secure his future. Both as the catcher for USC, which is his main priority, and the most important thing to him. Also, he wants to secure his future as a baseball player beyond college. It is in his best interest to be in the best shape to perform at USC. There is no logical reason to think anything but this. Sometimes we all make selfish decisions, especially when it involves our well-being. It's not even selfish when it comes down to a young man's future.

Regardless, his first priority is as a student athlete at USC.
