Interesting tweet earlier

  • The Gamecocks have played three or fewer games in six out of the last seven years since winning the SEC tournament in 2004. Our struggles in Hoover continue.

Until last season, we hadn't been all that successful in the ncaa tournament in the last few years.

According to you, unless we catch lightning in a bottle, and win it all, we are never successful.

Not necessarily! It's all about getting to Omaha in my opinion. Once you get there, you certainly want to win it, and we did last year of course, but making the CWS is important. Just making the ncaa tournament isn't good enough. For some teams it is, but not Carolina baseball!

Actually it is good enough. One of the reasons is we make it more than anyone else. Another is we have already won one CWS.

Winning a national championship carries with it heightened expectations. Having an elite baseball program, which I define as a perennial Top 10 program, carries with it heightened expectations. Making the SEC tourney should never be mentioned as a feat worthy of praise. We should ,at the very least, host a regional. No more trips to Greenville, NC. We should expect to win our regional. We should expect to host a super regional at least half the time. We should expect to get to Omaha at least once every four years.

If you believe anything other than Omaha is a failure, every program In America is a failure more than it is a success.

You are right, this is Carolina baseball. The same Carolina baseball that is the only team in the SEC to finish better than .500 in conference play or the last 15 years. In our league, that is amazing. So much so that only one team has accomplished that feat - USC.

We know the goal is Omaha.

It really is tiresome to have just won a National Championship and watch someone constantly point out our flaws. It is truly amazing to watch someone minimize our accomplishments by pointing out we weren't real good recently "outside than last year".

I am proud of this team and program. We have never done real well on Hoover. It has never meant a great deal to us.

If someone can't be proud of this baseball program, or can't even recognize how successful it has been, there is no program at USC worth following. One would be better to go watch a little league team that stacks its roster each year and wins every game. Outside of that, there is not a college or major league team that will ever be considered a success and one will be doomed to disappointment.

So Vandy's baseball program sucks I guess. Even with all that talent.

I'm starting to think you are some kind of parody. This can't be somebody's real thoughts on our baseball team.

You sir, just made the best post I have read this entire season. Mods, please lock this thread now before it gets to the point of having to be deleted like most of these do. This wisdom should not be lost.

  • this team has done a great job over the last 15-20 years. I don't think they have gotten the attention deserved b/c of so many great teams that never made it to Omaha but that's to be expected when a team doesn't live up to those lofty expectations but they have been a great team for 2 decades

I used to sort of defend the guy a little. I always thought he was a Gamecock fan who just could not control his emotions after a loss.

But after his BS about our team last year and his continued negative posts towards this years team I don't believe it anymore. If he is really a Gamecock fan he is the only one I know that does not appreciate what this program accomplished last year. Pretty pathetic if he is.

Postal, few folks know this program and support it better than you do and you're spot on with this post.
I firmly believe that this is just intentional. His goal is to whizz on this program and tick folks off.

I have had Andy on ignore for a while because I believe that he does it to get attention. It is pathetic either way.

Andy, you can't say that we were disinterested, though. We pitched our best pitchers. We played our starting lineup. Vandy and UGA just played better than we did.

  • Even though we didn't make it to Omaha from 2005 to 2009. We were ALWAYS in contention. And that is what you hprave to look at. Not many programs can say that. People thought the 06-08 team was worthy because we had Darnell, Smoak and Havens. But the pitching was short and I always was afraid of that. Considering the lag in facilities for the longest time that Toman and Tanner had to deal with during those years. Id say we were pretty darned good.

After posting about every loss, and figuring out how to turn a postive into a negative, US candy couldn't find the time to give Whittle a "well done" on the JBJ article. Or for that matter say aything good about what JBJ has meant to the program. That right there summed it up fot me.
