Koumas makes quick work of the batters in the ninth. Roth gets no decision. LB Dantzler is the hero, along with Marzilli. Marzilli was the batter most consistent today.

Watched the game on-line.
Yes, I am a pirate, 200 years too late.
This gamecock team is not the team of the last two years. Pitching and hitting will have to carry them. The IF defense is not there yet. Dantzler, Pankake and Vargason will have to improve. Of course my observation is based on one game,
Of the new guys I liked English and Greiner. They look ready for prime time.
As noted above I question Mathews at the no 2 spot.
Roth was Roth and good outings from Webb and Koumas.
In other good news UAB leads Clemson 2-1.

I sure do. I don't think VMI's pitching is all that great compared to some of the other teams we'll face. We will need to do a better job in putting more runs on the board. We were pretty fortunate to come away with a win. Hopefully today is a better day for the offense.

Tanner English is one little ball of quick twitch muscle. He is very small, yet has an absolute CANNON of an arm, is even faster than Adam Matthews, and generates tremendous bat speed. He will hit some homers this year, and he is probably 155lbs. This guy is something to behold running, even though he did get caught stealing, but his foot speed is absolutely jaw dropping. Damiere Byrd fast.
