What did Tanner say to Matthews did he not say be patient take a pitch. First Pitch DP please take Matthews out. The only reason to play Matthews is for his defense why just put him in to bat. He has shown he can't get it down. He struggled last year when he played and it has carried over to this year. Bases loaded 1 out and he's swinging first pitch. Come on how after yesterday's first pitch DP was this not brought to there attention be patient when the pitcher is giving you life don't kill yourself like we keep doing.

Maybe he said look for the first pitch to be a strike and jump all over it if its where you want it.

Matthews does not have his head in the game and he should sit........I don't care if he has 6 RBIs the rest of the game he should not be playing.....This is just like a QB that can't make a throw. Eventually you have to go with someone else

Hitting into a first pitch double play with bases loaded is a mental mistake, not a physcial mistake. You know you must hit eh ball out of the infield. You know you have to get a pitch you can elevate. When you go after the first pitch that is not up in the zone, you're not thinking. Very disappointing performance by Adam today. I expect more from him.

When the batter walked I got excited and my heart started pumping than the announcer said basesloaded 1 out and Adam Matthews up. I quickly came down off that high.

I guarantee you he expects more from him too. I would guess that no one is as disappointed as he is. He needs to get out of his own head I think.

Feel for Adam but he now needs to work his way out of the slump he is in on mid week games- not SEC play. He is a huge liability

My guess is that Ray knows that this team needs AM this season. His problems look to be mental right now, and Ray is doing whatever he can to get through to him. But that is just a guess.

I guess Ray is trying to save Matthew from getting to far into a slump. He is still young so something like this can really get in your head. Ray is trying to do what's best for Matt. That's the only reason I can think.

The next 5 innings are going to tell us alot about both teams. Are we going to say enough of this crap and make plays to avoid being swept in our first SEC series or are we going to continue our lackadaisical play like we're owed something? Is Kentucky going to go on cruise because they already won the series or are they going to go for the throat?

I agree. I really feel for Matthews. To go from a high to low is not easy but for the team this has to happen. It's like a pro who gets sent down to triple A to get his stuff back.

Maybe? both are a guess. If that is what he said Matthews still should have tried to lift the ball to the out field for a Sac fly.

Alright Great Job Greiner. That is why you take pitches.when the bases are loaded Greiner got a pitch he could hit. Another great hit. The batters seem to be patient at the plate. Taking first pitches wether it wasa strike or not.
