Vergy is a very good hitter now. Remember him the first 2/3 of the year? I thought he was a .250 hitter if he reached his potential. He's as good of a contact hitter as we have. He doesn't strike out much at all anymore, and hits the ball hard. He could be a hitter like Wingo was his senior year next year. Leadoff guy.

I could watch Pankake flash the bazifle from short all day. What an arm on that kid.

Orel was insinuating that Walker is slow just then. He is not a blazer, but he is not slow by any stretch. Probably one of the fastest 1st basemen in the country, I would imagine.
PG has him at 6.85 in the 60, which is pretty dang fast for a first baseman. He's probably the 4th fastest on the team.

Pankake is having a terrible time at the plate. 1-13 something like that. he has gotten great in the field but the bat has disappeared on him. He is young he will be fine just hope it's soon. Top of the order needs to get on base or hit in runs. He is swinging at balls way out of the zone. Move Marzili back to one put Vergy at 2 and Pankake around 7th to take the pressure off him and just hit.. IMO.

He's making some good contact most of the time, too. A lot of it is just bad luck. Everyone struggled against Stanek, but besides that, he's been hitting the ball hard. I'm not too worried as long as he is not striking out a bunch. He'll be fine.

Good point. This guy is really pitching good. He is keeping it low, and making us hit ground balls. Van Horn just said he does not want to run his pitch count too high, so hopefully he'll get out of there soon. He's very good tonight.
BTW, what are Mike and Orel talking about- Walker a converted 3rd baseman? He never played 3rd here, did he?
