  • Talking about shaking up the order!

    I agree. Consistently having contact

  • I really miss jake Williams. Costen had no business diving for that ball. Cut it off and hold the guy to a single. He cost his team and fellow freshman pitcher a run. Very selfish play. Until this team begins to play for each other we will not see improvement.

I agree he shouldn't have dove for that ball. Oh well, Montgomery looked like he settled in a little.

Me too! He is our 2nd best hitter.

  • I disagree vehemently with great effort comments by you whittle, but I have the benefit of replay. He did make a nice throw that dantzler should have scooped.
Also I really like the composure of Montgomery to battle back. He has been our best young guy imho.

I think it's a pretty easy double if he takes the angle to cut it off on a bounce. Obviously, he made third, so he got another base. You've got to be pretty darn sure you're going to catch the ball, or at least knock it down, if you dive for that. I said great effort, not great execution. He's out there trying to make a play. That's far from the worst thing I've seen in the last couple of weeks, but I just saw it once live from a long way away. I could be way off base.

  • Way to make up for it TJ nice job of hitting by him. I really do like costen and think he should be playing somewhere.
Whittle, he missed that ball by a good 6 feet and the dive was not a full off the ground give your body up play. He face planted more than dove.

  • What is season record for LOB and are we threatening?

yeah he wasn't even close. Could have held it to a double. We got or made alot of breaks for us the last two yearas but this year on 50/50 plays we seem to be getting 10/90 results.

  • Also this Tenn pitcher has a 5.4 ERA we should be able to score on them.

    JICock

  • Whittle, about center field.

Wouldn't JBJ and Marzilli be golden glovers in MLB, or very close, anyways? talking strictly defensively.

  • JW, center is English's natural position. If you haven't seen it, watch the clip of the catch he made against Brookland-Cayce and it will make you optimistic. Point taken, Marzilli and JBJ are great but English has more speed than either. Cone coming up from Spring Valley is a probable successor in a couple of years if he continues to grow and get stronger.

  • Ugh, I swear we are getting worse with runners on as the season goes on!
Our lineup has become the place where lead-off doubles go to die.

    No situational hitting whatsoever.

Speed alone don't make you a great centerfielder. English may end up being great but has struggled some reading balls off the bat. This is where JBJ excelled and Marzilli apears to be excellent also.

    They're elite college centerfielders.

I've seen plenty of English. I know what he's got. He'll continue to get better, but he's not on the same level as the other two as far as getting reads. Like I said, he's not as smooth as the other guys. He'll be fine in center, but some of the plays that are made right now, would not be made if he was in center, in my opinion. He's great, he's going to be great, but he's not on the same level as the other two right now ... I'm very high on Cone defensively, but he's going to have to get bigger and stronger, and he has plenty of time to do so. He compares more favorably to Marzilli/JBJ as far as route running and ability to get good reads.

Playing two different positions than he has played in awhile. Go on YouTube and watch the play he made against BC and you will see he is pretty good at reading it off of the bat. JW is right, JBJ and Marzilli will be tough acts to follow but I look forward to English getting his shot at his natural position.

Agree he is not as smooth and effortless, but he does have more speed to compensate. Marzilli looks more smooth in center than he did in left last year, because it is his natural position and it is easier to read the ball from center. You are right on Cone, he is a natural but needs to hit the weight room hard. Nine left on through 4, need to get the bats going.

  • Probably shouldn't have moved Pankake in the lineup. Its not working......yet.
