Matthews ....WTF

  • That was inexcusable, just lackadaisical effort.

  • Agree he needs to sit for awhile

  • I've mentioned this tendency before and gotten blasted for it. It is what it is.

  • Agreed. He is starting to piss me off. Give Costen some more time. If you aren't producing at the plate and you consistently get the ball in significantly slower than the rest of the outfielders, it's time for a change. There have been plenty of times that I watch him throw the ball in with runners on base and I think to myself, " he just doesn't care." I know Ray will do the right thing.

I was frustrated as well guess he has made up for it today!

Yep, the guy just makes big plays. Drove in the first run today to start things off. Threw out two, two runners at the plate today. To say he doesn't care is an insult to this program.

He is a big reason why we have won several games this year.

Were you watching the game or listening like most of us. Going by Andy D's play by play can be "tricky" if you're trying to decipher what kind of play he had on the ball/runner.

  • I would not go so far as to say that Matthews "does not care". I will say this, he does not have a feel for the game of baseball. He's a great athlete but just does some things that make you shake your head, but then the next day he's great.

On Friday he let's a guy score from second on a deep fly, then pops a bunt up that luckily falls for a hit. Yesterday there's a catcher's interference where he does not realize he gets first, the umpire had to tell him, and then immediately after he almost gets picked off during a run down. And on that play his helmet flies off and he's trying to catch it while he's trying to put his foot on the bag. Who gives a crap about the helmet, get on the bag.

After that all that he comes back today and saves the day by throwing out 2 runners at the plate.

His play can be mind numbing.

This sums it up pretty good...
