Today, with nine days before the start of the preseason, we take a look at our projected batting order and what each player brings to the table.

  • Did Ray prefer them to pull the ball? Holbrook prefer them use the whole field? Or whatever their strengths are?

  • AZ hit the ball to all fields last year, which is what we need to do. Zona was just a hitting machine where you knew that runs were eventually going to come in. Just get guys on base with few outs and put pressure on the pitcher and defense, especially with our speed.

...and that plays pefectly to that ballpark. Good pitching and the ability to hit situationally will win you alot of games in Omaha.

  • Whittle, have u heard from the offseason workouts that this switch hitting move by English is gonna stick? In other words has he really learned to be a switch hitting college player that quickly and will we see it everyday? If so thats damn impressive. I can't even write my name with my left hand much less swing a bat and hit a 90mph fastball....

PS, didn't English fix his eyesight or was that someone else?

  • From what I saw of English the switch hitting is here to stay, his swing seemed a little more level/controlled to me from the left side. He definetly put an emphasis on putting the ball on the ground, he will beat out some balls to short from the left side if the ss does not attack the ball.

  • Looks like a pretty dang good baseball team to me. I'm already looking forward to the season.

  • John Whittle wrote " Dantzler was always encouraged last year to pull the baseball but one of the reasons he was recruited by big programs was because he could use the whole field."

That's truly amazing. Watching Dead pull Dantzler last year brought back memories of Craig Nettles and Chris Chambliss. I am really excited to see the new improved version.

  • I'm cool with the switch hitting but I really hope they've spent some time on getting English to work on his bunting. With his speed, that would seem to be worth more base hits than working both sides of the plate but what do I know. I guess I've been spoiled by guys like Merrifield & Wingo who could put wherever they wanted and beat the throw but there were some frustrating moments last year where nobody could seem to get a bunt down where it needed to go.

There's a lot of talent to love in that line-up. If they can master the basics, we should be looking good for another Omaha run.
