This team has to get better in a lot of areas

  • Clutch hitting is lacking severely, stranding too many base runners, and for the second time this year, can't hold on to a late lead. We are letting too many teams hang around because of our lack of offensive punch and leaving runners stranded. That's a recipe for disaster. That being said, we did have a lead late in the game. This is where not having Matt Price as our closer is hurting us. You know and I know what Price has meant to us in the pen the last couple of years. It was pretty much lights out when he came in the game. I understand Tanner giving him a chance to start this season, that's all well and good. However, its not working out. Price is needed more in the pen, where he can affect two games on the weekend instead of just one. It's time to do what's best for the team. Like I said though, our offense isn't helping matters either. It's been an issue for the last couple of years. It's a major major reason why we're in so many down to the wire games. We can't put teams away. Thank goodness we've won our share of close ones, but it doesn't work out like that all the time. Better hope the bats wake up soon or else we may not have the kind of year we're all hoping for.

It's been an issue for the last couple of years?? I'll take an issue like that every year if we win the national championship. UK guy really came up with an impressive hit in a clutch situation for them. That's all there is to it. There are 29 more SEC games to go and our guys will be seeing red the rest of the weekend.

The Cats better be ready, we will be, starting with Price as the focused starter today.

  • Piece of advice. If you are going to make a reasonable point (as you were with the team's offensive struggles this year), don't ruin it my making a dumb one (as you did by saying lack of offense and clutch hitting has been a problem the last two years).

Also, we can move Price at some point, but not now. Would not be fair to the kid. We would not have Matt price on the team in any capacity if we didn't commit to letting h start. Having him as a starter is not hurting the team this year because the alternative was not to have him on the team at all. I'm all about sacrificing for the team, but I happen to think Price has done that in a way just by returning.

We can move him to the pen later in the year, but we really do owe him a chance to start.

  • We cannot put teams away? You do realize this is the second, SECOND game we have lost, right?

Here we go again, dude we will lose close to 20 games this year it's called baseball. We don't need a paragraph every loss telling us how bad it is. First of all, Beal is going to be incredible and left a hanger up there and we lost. Not as bad as matty ice last year at Clemson and that turned out okay for us in the long run. I am very frustrated with our hitting production but even if we lose 2 of 3 we lost 2 of 3 to UK two years ago and things turned out okay. I coached baseball for a number of years (high school varsity) so let me help you understand some things about baseball since you are an expert. 1. IT'S A LONG FREAKING SEASON calm down. Who gives a deuce if we hit like crazy now I'll be ranting in may if we can't hit a lick. 2. EVERY BASEBALL TEAM SUCKS from time to time (just how the game works)
I went to bed frustrated last night but things work out. positives...Roth was amazing again. If they call that HBP a strikeout like it should have been it is 3-0 going to the 8th and that walkoff homer makes it 3-2 instead of 4-3 and we probably still win the game. BS call unlucky but Roth was great THAT IS GOOD Andy!
    2. We left a bunch on base but still had some good at bats from a bunch of the guys and it wasn't a disaster game
    3. Our boys got pissed at the end of the game and it will serve as a wake up call for the rest of the weekend and heading into next week!

BE EXCITED and stay away from the pain pills today candy life isn't that bad. for the past 3 years you have been negative ALL SEASON long so this encourages me we are well on our way to a 3 peat... LONG SEASON CALM DOWN

Yes its only the second game we've lost, but we're very fortunate it hasn't been more. Too many close games against teams we should blow out because we can't score runs. That's a problem.

If we lose close to 20 games, you can forget being a top 8 national seed, which is extremely important.

Broken record. This was your post after last years 1'st game loss to uga....

This could be a long year if we don't get the bats going! What a crying shame not giving Roth any run support. He pitched so well and deserved a much much better fate. I thought we had a very very good chance at sweeping Georgia and now we absolutely have to win the series. You can't start off SEC play losing your first home series. And oh yeah, defense was pathetic!

I wonder how much prilosec he goes through during an SEC series weekend. His nails are chewed to the quick.

An error is always next when we are in the field. Strikeouts are inevitable when we are hitting. Visions of bomb after bomb being hit by the opponent. Twitching, and shaking his head trying to get the thoughts out. Pile of beer cans and prescription pill bottles on the coffee table with the radio on it. Waiting for the bad news from Demetra.

I'm just messin with 'ya, Andy. But you do need to lighten up. You lose some in Baseball. We have a WEALTH of young talent, and key veterens in important spots. You can just see the confidence seeping out of Beal, he will be fine, trust me. These kids are coached by the best in the country, the talent will be realized.

NOT TRUE! Florida lost 19 last year #1 national seed, Texas A & M 22 losses Texas 19 losses national seeds it's who you play and when you lose them. I'm not saying you WANT to lose 20 games I am saying losses happen! Thanks for geting the point Negative Nancy. frustrated
